EJ Tweet!

Kind of an interesting twist in this kid's commitment. In his interview with Howe he admits that he can't 100% close the door on the recruiting process. He said he still has official visits to take so anything is possible. I wonder if he is waiting for a Mizzou offer. Wonder if Kirk knew this before he accepted his commitment? Kirk is usual a "let's go steady" instead of a "let's hold hands" coach when it comes to commitments.

I'd guess they probably know....

For what it’s worth, Missouri isn’t a lock down in the St Louis area…..not saying he wouldn’t consider Mizzou, but their presence there or lack thereof has always been a source of anxt to Missouri fans.

Mizzou might not matter. But the quote in the article suggests that the proverbial crack is open because he hasn't taken ANY of his officials. What this tells me is that while Iowa is indeed his most preferred destination, he verballed today only to lock down a spot until he around to sampling what's out there (i.e. takes all his officials). Anyway, if KF is ok with this, there is little to be ticked off about.

If KF is not okay with it, I'm sure there will be a polite conversation informing Derrick of the expectations of a "commitment." We've have had very few de-commits the last few years, I think the staff makes its position pretty clear.

Usually when a coach coaches in a state for awhile he establishes relationships with high school coaches from around that state. It's very possible that Illinois' head coach had a solid relationship with the kid's high school coach and ended up creating a strong relationship with that kid early on.

either this or the zooker's stench still lingers around Champaign-Urbana
