Edsall to Maryland

This is surprising to me. His name has floated around Michigan and Miami the last couple of years. Maryland isn't that much of a step up IMO if at all. And I'm not sure that Edsall is a step up from Friedgen.

I was thinking along the same lines. Maybe Maryland football is a bigger deal on the east coast than we realize it is out here in the midwest, but with his name being bandied about in connection with jobs as big as Michigan, it looks like Edsall jumped at the first offer instead of being patient and exploring the possibilities.

With the 49ers head coaching job opening up, I am not so sure Harbaugh is as much of a lock for the Michigan job as people might think. I'm sure staying in the Bay Area would be very attractive to Harbaugh. Staying in town and going to the pros might seem like less of a let down for the Standford faithful.

At any rate, I was surprised to hear Edsall to Maryland. It really seems to me like he could've done better.

No, it isn't.

With Mr. John Elway getting a position in Denver there is word that he is after Harbaugh to. Elway is at their bowl game to be a honorary coin flipper, would love to see my Broncos get him and keep him away from Michigan.

weird move. better recruits in that area, but that's it. and they just fired their most successful coach in history. could end up just like the clones situation when they let go of mccarney.

also better facilities, bigger school, better conference, more tradition (I mean shoot, Scott Zolak was a QB at Maryland, for cryin out loud)

I don't like Denver, but that would be fine with me.

I think Edsall could have probably done better too. He seems like a stand up guy and someone you would like your kid to play for. From what I have watched and heard from and about him, I think he is good guy. Hope he does well at Maryland.

Having lived in the DC area for three of the past four years, I can assure you that almost no one pays attention to Maryland football out east.
