Early Iowa-ISU Line

The series isn't really as close as clown fans like to think. The clowns won several games in a row starting in 1998 when Ferentz began coaching. Mac knew how important it was to beat Iowa and put all of his marbles into that game. If the clowns beat Iowa, THAT was their season (and still is). Before 1998, Iowa ground the clowns into dirt for many years. Iowa fans came to expect an automatic win against their little brothers. Then Mac changed that for a FEW years.

SINCE 2003 Iowa is 6-2 against the clowns and some of those wins are very lopsided. Since Mac was fired the clowns simply have not fared very well against Iowa and the pendulum appears to have swung back heavily in Iowa's favor.

Will Iowa win 15 games in a row again...probably not. They are bound to win on occasion. But since 2003, Iowa is showing it dominance over the clowns again. Except for a few years when Iowa's program was very very down and coaching staffs were changing, Iowa has pretty much ruled this series.

Are the clowns good at covering...yea, but they still lose most of the time. The clowns won a few games in a row when Ferentz first took over and the program was very very down, but again since 2003, Iowa is 6-2 against the clowns. That is the last 8 years, go back 13 years and it evens out because of those wins in a row. But if you claim those wins in a row make the clowns even with Iowa, all one has to do is go back the previous 15 years when Iowa won ALL those games in a row.

This series just depends on what years are selected. In actuality, the clowns are not a very good rivalry other than trash talk. To be a rivalry one team has to win about as many games as the other. Wisconsin, Mich St, and other Big 10 teams are Iowa's true rivals. The clowns fall somewhere around number 5 or 6 on schedule as being a key rival.

Uhh I don't know what to say other than that is exactly what I said.....

The only thing I can think that you missed there was that you thought I was saying the stadiums point spread effect goes down as the season goes on because of the wind. That's now what I said.

The wind is the reason the point spread effect is at 4 in the first place instead of the usual 3.

And I honestly have no idea what you are saying.

They specifically said late in the year when ISU is having a bad season. Which is alluding to the fact that the crowd isn't as much of a factor not the wind. Now that's just Miller and Brinson's opinion but that's what they were talking about.

Actually it's the opinion of the linemakers that work for the same company I work with in LV.

It's a misnomer that every home team gets 3 points. In the NFL that's closer to being the rule, however, it's very different in college football. Jack Trice on it's best day, is a 4.5 point venue, Kinnick can be a 6 point advantage when calculating the line.

The biggest home field advanatage's according to our linemakers are Hawaii and Boise State.
