Does Iowa have a spring practice game?
or scrimmage? or would that draw unwanted attention? Will Kirk feel comfortable having the team play on TV this fall or would that create undo attention / distraction?... make the players get a big head etc
I don't think it's a Kirk thing, considering they've gone to an actual game style in the past few years with them being televised, but I would think that the weather is going to play a big part in it this year. Maybe if that happens, they'll just practice inside without being televised.Does Iowa have a spring practice game?

If you have a chance to be on tv, then why not advertise your brand?
My kid and I go every year. I called the football office the other day to make sure of what was going on, and I was told it would be the same as last year.I don't think it's a Kirk thing, considering they've gone to an actual game style in the past few years with them being televised, but I would think that the weather is going to play a big part in it this year. One strong word of caution, if you’re anywhere near Polasek you’re going to hear many, prodigious F-bombs at the top of his lungs and see him dragging players around by their jerseys and face masks. If that sort of thing makes you uncomfortable I’d move down the sidelines a bit. The guy is like a coked up Bobby Knight after he just lost a grand playing craps.
I remember last year at the spring game he went completely psycho on Wirfs and one of the Paulsens (can’t remember which one). Wirfs multiple times. This description reminds me a lot of my old high school defensive coach. We thought he was nuts, he actually would kick us and punch us (with helmets on of course) and everyone was kind of scared of him but more so we just thought he was crazy.
On the all quoteable movie list with "Animal House" "Caddyshack" "Slap Shot" "Major League" and many others. My favorite all-time comedy.
No exaggeration, I've seen that movie at least 50 times and I still laugh out loud every time.
That Wadley guy needs to tone down his personality. Needs to work on fitting in. #TheIowaWayMy kid and I go every year. I called the football office the other day to make sure of what was going on, and I was told it would be the same as last year.
It used to be on Saturday afternoon, but last year they moved it to Friday night. Last year was also the first year it was on tv, so they changed the scoring system and made it more of a “game” than it used to be. Kids get a free program and poster when they walk in (admission is also free), and before the game there’s an hour long autograph session strictly for kids where the players walk the first row signing stuff. For young kids, I think the spring game can be even more fun than a real game because they get a chance to interact with players and sit wherever they want.

What’s really cool is that former players are at the next year’s spring game a lot of times and since they are not players anymore, they’re free to sign autographs. Last year I saw Kittle, Beathard, Daniels, and others walking around, and I sat by Wadley’s mom and brother for a while. Super nice people.
Kittle autographed my kid’s program and personalized it last year...
This is him getting Wadley’s in 2016...
Greenway was on the field after a camp in ‘16 and was signing for kids too...
LeShun and CJ on the sidelines last year, both of them were super good with all the kids mobbing them and signed lots of autographs...
If you have kids or want to watch what goes on during a practice it’s a great time.
Is it really accurate this year to call it the "Spring Game", or is it more of a repeat of the Pinstripe Bowl?might want to dress warm, high of 55 low of 37. When that sun sets, will be chilly

My son has played with those kids. I hope they made it back in one piece.
Our seventh graders had state in LaCrosse Palm Sunday weekend which featured another blizzard. Ironically LaCrosse was one of few places it didn't snow.
