Dumb question

I just looked on the website and if anyone is planning on autographs for their kids it sounds like that won’t be happening. They’re going to do it on kids day in the fall.

Also, it looks like it won’t be on BTN, it’ll be streamed on BTN2GO from 7-8. Which is way shorter than normal.

Geography can be peculiar sometimes. Dubuque is closer to Appleton, Wisconsin, than it is to Des Moines. Green Bay is further by only a matter of miles.
The fastest way for me to get to Iowa City has 11 stop signs before I get to Hwy 20. I know that because I've Google Maps'd it to death trying to cut it shorter.

If I could eliminate some of that and drive four lane I'd probably be there an hour and a half earlier.

We'll probably get a better view from the webcam anyways... They better not shut it off!

and...how the H---ll did my dumb question stretch to 2 page thread anyway?
With assistance from Rand McNally! A trip you don't want to take, unless you like over 150 miles of two lane highway or want to add a couple hours of windshield time on interstates, is Dubuque to the Twin Cities. Ugh.

Reno is further west than 60% of California.

There was a time in the not too distant past that Hwy 20 itself was two lanes.

People from Sioux City and points north would cut across on 141.

Maybe I'm crazy, but taking the right route north out of Dubuque can be quite scenic. Take 52 then veer off towards Balltown, then meander up through Decorah. I personally love that drive.

Must stop: Balltown's Breitbach's Supper Club. Those soups, and homemade bread. Out of this world. They were destroyed by fire in 2006 and 2008 (five months after they reopened). They've risen from the ashes more times than a Phoenix. During the fall foilage season people come from Milwaukee, Chicago and beyond.

If you choose 52, allow extra time because you will meander.
I had a client in Decorah that I would visit three times per week. I know that road like the back of my hand.

When we do go to the Cities we will go up the Wisconsin side. But you still won't hit interstate until LaCrosse or Black River Falls. If you want a truly spectacular drive that is also relatively fast, take State route 35 from Prairie du Chien 59 miles to LaCrosse. Arguably the most scenic in the Midwest. Plenty of eateries. And more spectacular views of the Mississippi River than you can imagine.

I've taken that route many times, and, I've been to the supper club at least three times. We used to stop at Starks and load up on beer and bait, then travel up to LaCrosse to fish. That whole section is very scenic. I didn't appreciate it as much when I lived in Iowa, and now I sincerely miss it.

This description reminds me a lot of my old high school defensive coach. We thought he was nuts, he actually would kick us and punch us (with helmets on of course) and everyone was kind of scared of him but more so we just thought he was crazy.

One practice our football coach got pissed at the running backs and said "Watch.... this is how you do it" and put on a helmet and proceeded to drop our best tacklers by bouncing them off his shoulders while running at them at nearly full speed. After he put two tacklers to the ground by running over them he turned and yelled "That's how you do it! Power through them!" (He was an all-conference football player and wrestler at Upper Iowa) He taught biology and referred to everyone by their last name only. We all thought he was crazy!

Sounds like the Rock from Gridiron Gang except more of a dick

I had a coach in High School who was similar to that - he's still the Head Coach here and he did everything short of gearing up, but everybody I know loved him. He was able to get maximum effort from everyone, when your tank was empty he taught us that we could always give a little more.
