DSJ to 165?

Granted this is now 3rd hand, but according to a poster on TOS, Luke Eustice confirmed this at the Council Bluffs I-Club event. We've still got a lot of time left until November, but I wouldn't think Eustice would have said this at such a public forum unless it had a pretty good chance of happening.

149-174 look to be really up in the air:

149 Carew/M. Ballweg/J. Ballweg
157 Kelly/Moore
165 DSJ/Evans/Lofthouse
174 Evans/Lofthouse

The same thing was said last year (St. John going to 165). It's an interesting debate, but I'm not going to waste too much brain power on it until we're closer to next season. A lot can change in 4-5 months.

Any redshirt freshman (or anyone that didn't wrestle last year, for that matter) going to have an impact this year? I see you have Carew in there, don't remember him from any match I followed.

Carew had work done on his knees. before that he was supposed to be our best option at 149. He might have made a difference for Iowa at Big tens and Nationals. It really hurt losing him early this past season. hopefully he fully recovers

I'm really excited about all the unknowns and options for the various weight classes in question. 184 and 197 are the only "knowns" for next season's team. Hopefully Gambrall and Byers stay healthy because the Hawks are very thin at these weights.

I have no inside information but unless DSJ gains alot of strength or grows more, I see him trying to win the spot at 157.

Seeing how I really don't see anybody beating him at 157 this year I don't know why he would want to mess with Dake and Taylor up at 165. But only time will tell. Its a long time till wrestling season starts and I guess we'll have to wait for wrestleoffs for sure to find out where he is going.

i think this hurts iowa in a way i like lofthouse in the lineup

So, what difference would it make if St John went to 165?? Ethan Lofthouse is the Iowa 174 pounder until something changes...

I wouldn't put a ton of stock into what weight anyone thinks St John might go at this point. He is going to work on his strength and we'll see if he can actually put that much weight on or not.

If Dylan Carew can stay healthy he will be a force at 149 and will surprise a LOT of people out there. He would have given the Hawks a big 10 title last year and possibly a national title as well.

Me thinks you're nuts if you actually believe Carew would have beaten Molinaro yet alone Dake last year.

Me thinks you need reading comprehension. I said that he could have given the Hawks a Big 10 title and maybe nationals. He certainly would have scored that extra 2 points to push Iowa over the top in Evanston. I do also believe that he might have scored enough points to push them over the top at Nationals too.

Do I think he would have won nationals? No. Do I think that he would have been an AA? Yes
Do I think that he would have beaten Dake? No. Do I think that he would have beaten Molinaro? While maybe unlikely, I wouldn't have counted him out of it...

Ok, I see what you mean now and I agree although I still don't think it's a reading comprehension issue. Your previous comment can just as easily be taken to mean Carew winning an individual title for the Hawks as it would Carew helping to win the team title.

Smoot you can admit you were wrong. Fulsas did not need corrected. What he wrote was pretty clear and i agree with everything he said.
Carew really might have made a Big difference.. Coulda.. Shoulda... Woulda..
Hopefully his knees hold up!

I don't know that these 3 have had much opportunity to wrestle one another as Carew and Dziewa were out the entire season with injuries. I would think Dziewa would be the furthest behind since he hasn't been able to benefit from wrestling in the Iowa room due to his shoulder injury (spent last year in conditioning and physical therapy), whereas Carew and Ballweg both have 1 year under their belts (sts).

I've heard Carew is back on the mat. Anyone know if Dziewa is able to give his shoulder a try?

I'm no longer accusing him of being wrong. It's not unlike bat having two different meanings. I took it one way and he meant the other. That is all, unless you can prove to me that there is absolutely no way "He would have given the Hawks a big 10 title last year and possibly a national title as well," can mean individual champion and can only be taken to mean team championship.
