Drake played over a half without scoring a FG against UNI. The time accounted for a little over an hour of real-time.

Drake got up on UNI early & went up by 11 at one time, then UNI locked down on the D. Drake last scored a FG in the first half at somewhere in the 8 minute mark & never scored again the rest of the half. Then they came out in the 2nd half & got two free throws but no field goals. They played a little over 13 minutes in the 2nd half without scoring a FG. This was over 20 minutes combined with the 1st half drought. I think they scored a total of 5 pts in the 2nd half to about the 7 minute mark. They ended up scoring less than 20 pts in the 2nd half.

UNI's D is stifling. They take away what the O wants to do really well. I couldn't stop thinking about how interesting a match-up they would be with Wisconsin. It would be low-scoring game but a defensive gem. They both play a similar style.

I'm happy for UNI and hope they win out. I actually heard talking heads last night suggesting that a loss by UNI could open up a spot for someone else. My response is "no freaking way." I don't study the bubble the way I would if Iowa were a factor, but it appears to me that "mid-majors" are going to be in line for several more bids than in most years, simply because some of the BCS conferences are weaker than usual--esp. the Pac 10.

Hey, I just thought of a new term--"bubble study." This time of year you could use "bubble study" as an excuse for getting out of undesirable social obligations, and if you say it quickly enough, people may think you're engaged in an activity of a higher order. ;)
