Don’t forget, nearly 50 recruits saw that

D didn't lose the game, special teams did

I agree completely.

Our Defense hasn't lost a game for us in a long time. The lack of offensive scoring has.

I agree this a big contributing factor to my previous statement and don't discount this line of thought, but at the same time the D has to rise up when their number is called. We have been one stop away from victory in a few big games over the years. I am not saying the defense played bad now or then, but we were one stop away from victory.

This game has fucked us worse than any game in the previous decade...

We haven't had a shittier loss in a shittier situation in front of recruits since Kirk took over.

That shit show of a final play with all the laterals, etc. didn't help matters either because it's going to be on every ESPN blooper reel from here to Poughkeepsie until 2045. What a bunch of goddamn goobers...What the F did they think they we're goin to gain by getting a potential 8 points??? I'll wait...

The fact that anyone talks about recruiting anymore is funny, When you are lucky to grab only 2 and 3 star project players... who cares.... there are thousands of these kids and we get 25 or 30 a year, the truth is I can go to a frat intramural football game on any campus and find a better punter than our 5 mil a year coach shows how important recruiting is to our coach...zero...zilch///// we battle MAC teams for players.... BFD
It's not just the punter or kicker, though, which was obviously the point of your post. You need solid play from the entire coverage team which we don't even come close to having.

The 50 recruits will see they had a game won against a top 20 team until the last minute of the game in a fantastic environment. Most people aren't ridiculous, the whole world is falling in, our team sucks, our coaches suck, we got out coached, our qb sucks, our coach makes too much money, our team obviously gave no effort, our coaches didn't want to win, our preseason schedule cost us, negative nancies. Guessing most of our recruits aren't either. They will care more about the quality of the game they saw in an electric environment more than they will care that we didn't score 50 points tonight. Football players understand some games you score a ton, sometimes you're in a war, and they saw an awesome battle tonight. They won't remember this game as negatively as our "fan-base" is apparently.

Don't forget how young we are on D. The future is bright. Better days are definitely ahead. I agree it has been frustrating to watch our D lose big games on the last play or last drive in recent years.
Heard it all before. Do we have a difference maker coming up on offense, which is what we really need. I don't think so.

Meh. Bad call on 3rd and 6. Maybe questionable qb sneak call on 4th and 1 but that's hindsight. Could have thrown more earlier, sure. The 3rd and goal run play was there. Simply an all world LB play.

3 turnovers, 2 of which were 100% player mistakes, and 1 of those gifted 7 points. I guess you can put heat on Woods for Special Teams...but I'd bet large dollars the players are coached to know where the ball is and to stay away from it.

I am not sold on BF as a good OC, and last 3 weeks were not impressive playcalling. But this loss isn't on the coaches. Ultimately, they have to take the blame though.
BF has no feel for play calling in a game (fluid environment). That Connie defense is not that good. They just have better coaches than we do. It's that simple. And the year to year records reflect that fact.

All of that is true. And I am not impressed with BF as OC. Still, coaching didn't lose this game.

Everyone wants to be hindsight coach, but we've see QB sneaks work, almost always, and we have a 240 pound, 6'5 QB.

I didn't love the other 3rd down call at the other goalline, but again that play was there if not for a all world play by the LB. Would have rather gone to Fant, but the play was there.

This was a gutting loss, and everyone wants their pound of flesh. I have been pretty damn critical of BF and KF this year, but I cant put this one on the coaches.

When you look at Wisconsin's results for the last 10 years vs KF's results....it's obvious which school has had the better coaching staffs. I have to say "STAFFS" because Wisconsin has had 3 different staffs in that time period and they have all been better than KF. Wisconsin had had 7- 10+ win seasons out of the last 10 years. KF has had 2. It's a coaching issue.

They’ve had 3 different staffs but nothing has really changed since Barry Alvarez has been there. If they truly changed staffs and philosophies I guarantee they wouldn’t have been successful doing it. Look at Nebraska. There are examples all over the country of teams changing staffs every three years and very few success stories.

You're right and the difference is WISCONSIN= 101- 34 vs KF/IOWA = 82-48

LOL...what a stupid freaking post. Any recruit that walks into Kinnick in an atmosphere like that is going to be blown away. The team acquitted itself well...and if they don't turn it over they most likely win. The offense moved the ball through the air and on the ground. Wisconsin made the plays at critical times, mostly in the red zone, and we didn't.

It's such a stupid post Fry...damn...do you remember 2006? 2012? If Wisconsin had blown us out and we looked like crap on offense...fine...but that team moved the ball well and if they don't get the two possessions stolen from them with turnovers by special teams...they likely would have won.

I'll wait for Rob to write up his report on feedback from the top recruits, but I'll bet you any amount they walked away amazed at the experience.

Nice post Walker...seriously. Sometimes the defense just makes a play....our two senior linemen got stood straight up on the QB sneak...they are supposed to be lower. The other play, if Ross goes high on Connelly instead of cutting him...IKM likely scores with the head of steam he had...he's at the 1 minimum. Then you go for it again...maybe no sneak then.

Every time I go to Iowa, it seems the atmosphere gets better and better. That stuck out the most, which is really impressive,” David Bell told HN.

He must like "shit shows".

I won't argue wiskys dominance over Iowa over the last 9 years. I'm talking about yesterday, and while there were a couple iffy play calls, I just cant put it on the coaches. Other past losses, sure, just not this one.

Way too many fans either forget or completely ignore the human aspect of the game. Sometimes, the other guys simply made a better play/effort/call/etc. It's not a controlled environment.
