Dolph needs to retire

"Touchdown Iowa! Touchdown Iowa" Tyler Goodson bounced it outside, up the sideline, and into the endzone!"

"Wait. Check that folks. They're saying he stepped out at the 8 yard line. It will be 1st and Goal for the Hawks".

Love Dolph - that said, the game, especially basketball, moves way to quickly for him. He routinely says TD when there is no TD, he often times says it's a catch when it's not a catch. It makes following the games next to impossible. He never gives the score, in either sports and has a hard time explaining situational sports. In basketball he's just completely lost. It sucks but it's time for him to walk off.

You are accurate and when I hear some top announcers call games they do not declare what is happening until they know it pretty much for sure. There is no need in a football game to keep guessing what is going on. Watch the refs and their signals and watch the down and distance on the sidelines and the scoreboard, wait for the calls for completions etc, and stop guessing a runner gained 2 and constantly saying it is more or less. In football the announcers have a spotter identifying the player names but in Bball it goes too fast.

So who's stepping in then?

This question and thread pops up once every year or so about finding a new announcer. I have always said for football at least Paul Burmeister, former Iowa QB, would be a good choice. He has been in sports news and announcing for many years, good voice, worked for NFL Network but mostly for NBC.
