Does UNI Success hurt IOWA?

What do you fellers think? I think some of those players might be walking on at Iowa if UNI wasn't so dang good in their league. A kid like Lohouse could have played at Iowa, or Morgan.

Unless they start to have more consistent success from year to year, the short answer is no. If they become a yearly top 25 team like Wichita State has become, then maybe it's possible.

As for UNI signing Iowa kids like Lohaus and Morgan, that's not a big deal. If Fran were to rely on players like them to get the job done in the Big Ten, he wouldn't be around for very long. That said, I would love to have them as walk ons.

Has UNI been successful? This must be one of those april fool jokes. Oak hill and Fleming play on ESPNU tomorrow at 5 p.m. .

No, they would never be able to get a recruit that we wanted. UNI is successful when they find recruits that no other Power 5 conference wanted, and they become impact players like Tuttle.

Of course it hurts Iowa. We here at Hawkeye Nation are a part of Iowa and when UNI plays well fairfax posts over here and it hurts our eyes.

For one season I'd love for UNI to play in the big10 week after week after week in both footba and basketball. After one season we wouldn't have to hear from them. Respect what they have accomplished over the years in both sports but the level of competition is different. They want to be considered big dogs they better get off the porch but it will never happen cause of money.

No worries. they'll settle back down to the norm next season.

Since they only have this level of success once or twice a decade, the answer is of course no.

Agreed with the above. I worry more about ISU's success than I do UNI or Drake.

Has Iowa State been successful? Its nice they made the NCAA tournament this year, but I wouldn't say they were really that successful. I like to think Iowa is going to be more and more successful in the future, but I don't see how it would happen at Iowa State or UNI.

I suspect that both Fran and Fred are kicking themselves over letting Lohaus get away. He is going to be great. And Morgan would be an significant contributor for Iowa or Iowa State.

I think Morgan and Lohaus are pretty good players, but its nice to put things in perspective. I'm sure most basketball players would love to have the basketball abilities of Morgan or Lohaus.

I sort of feel like they steal headlines and attention from the Hawks. I don't want to see UNI do well at all. I am glad we quit playin them in that crackerbox they call a gym.

I don't think it does. Has a kid ever turned down an Iowa scholarship to play at UNI? I can't remember one. So that means we are getting the kids we want that would have been considering them. We did want Washpun out of HS and he may or may not have beat out MG for that starting spot. But with his going to TN and coming back it made no sense for Iowa to want him with MG Sap and at the time Dickerson on the roster. So it was a numbers game at the time he decided to come back to Iowa.
Now UNI hit a home run with Tuttle and they put some nice complimentary pieces around him. They'll be a much different team without him...

It will be interesting to see if Freddy bombs out in recruiting this year. I think he still has three scholarships for the spring. When its all over with he might wish he had a Morgan or Lohaus.
