Does Iowa have a QB that can be good next year

I believe Hecklinski was a four star coming out of Georgia in a conference where competition was good. I am not sure how he would compare to Petras who I also believe was a 4 star in terms of recruiting rank but he would be high. I think the height thing is overblown in college as there are ways to mitigate that. Unless he gets injured I think he will be our #1

Yes, I think height is the Heck concern.

We will get a good idea of watching a shorter QB in our bowl game. Diego Pavia, the Vandy QB, is listed at 6'0" but reports say he is shorter, 5'10", if that. And he's been productive. I will watch that with interest.

I've read that Heck is Drew Tate 2.0. Good arm, accurate, small, can create, play off script, and is pretty cocky.
Same here and his off script and running ability is something that can traded off for his lack of height when compared to some of the other guys in the room in my opinion.

One of Iowas greatest weaknesses over the last decade was the ability of the QB to turn that no gain or blown up play into a 3nd and 7 or 8 as opposed to a 3rd and 15+. Stanley and everyone after with the exception of the last few years rarely pulled the ball down to get a short gain or extended the play to throw it out of bounds on a consistent basis.

Part of that was play calling as well, as Brian didn't do a good job of moving the pocket to help compensate for the weaknesses in some of the younger OL guys. Instead it was drop backs with little recognition of blitzes so the QBs would get hammered (especially Petras). What was weird is none of those guys were incapable of scrambling they just hardly did it. Stanzi was no speed demon but if you go and watch those games he could scramble and get us out of those 3rd and really long plays.
