Personally I dont. I watch sports to see outstanding athletic feets/performances. I could care less what the guys are putting into their bodies to achieve them. They are grown adults. If they want to run the risk of what comes with PED use to perform better so be it. Besides they all use "artificial" or chemical enhamcement anyway. The only difference between creatine or a protien shake and HGH is a fuzzy line someone somewhere drew. All three are designed to boost muscle growth. The difference between someone using amphetimines and 5 hour energy drink is what exactly? Both are stimulants designed to keep you up.

Amature athletes and competitions are a bit different as many are minors and none are paid. But for the pros i say juice up.

Yes, I care. the playing field should be even.

baseball testing - as racer has said - (actually he said 'merikan power sports) is a joke, which i agree with.

this lance thing is a pharse as well. who gives a rip about testing, let's just put everyone in kangaroo court if we can't catch them with the testing.

Re: Do you care of pro athletes use ped's?

I'm with you Duff. You cant tell me that athletes haven't been using something to enhance their performance since business became a part of athletics. Boxing? Are you kidding me? Football? Really?

I agree with you that the line between what is allowed and disallowed is fuzzy at best, and downright hypocritical at worst. I would not have a problem with professional sports leagues loosening their regulations towards PEDs.

However, I am a firm believer that you compete according to the rules in place. As long as the rule says, "Don't use steroids or HGH," you shouldn't do it. Anyone that does differently is a cheater looking for a shortcut.

And I don't buy the, "If you're not cheating, you're not trying" excuse. People who cheat do not do so because they care more or they try harder than the non-cheater; they are doing so because their integrity failed them at that instant when they were debating about whether or not they should break the rules for personal gain. Doesn't mean they are bad people, but I cannot condone that decision.

That said, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens should definitely be in the HOF.

I only care about it in sports I care about. Bicycle riding isn't one of them. I would say though, that protein and creatine help your body become stronger. You can take all the protein and creatine you want and it won't do for you what HGH does. It's artificial hormones that your body wouldn't otherwise have. This allows athletes to reach physical levels impossible to achieve without it. Protein and creatine enhance what you have; they don't give you extra hormones and testosterone, hence the shrinking of the balls because your body stops creating it itself.

A level playing field is all I want. Either allow them or ban the guys on first offense. It takes something away if somebody wins with an advantage the other team/person doesn't have.

The crux to allowing or turning a blind eye from those that are paid to perform is the repercussions to the young amature athletes. These guys view the short term rewards and say why not me? Who at 16 -17 is worried about health risks associated to these drugs in their 40's and 50's?

In my opinion if it is an illegal substance in the eyes of the law it should be prohibited.

And...this isn't the same as underage drinking as alcohol is not an illegal substance.

I think my problem with it is the fact that if permitted it essentially becomes the norm and use of it at the lower levels will become more of a problem. College elites will use it while in college to prepare for the pros because they'd essentially have to to make it at the next level. Average college players will also do it to compete with the elites as will the lower level players to simply make their way onto the field, which then translates down to the highschool players who are doing everything they can get to college and chase the dream of a professional career.

I think if it's permitted at any level then it creates a downward spiral that will destroy sports and the lives of thousands. There will always be those that use them to get an edge, however by continuing to "ban" them it may help save the lives of those who want it bad enough that they'd willingly put their body at risk at all costs.
We all know they're out there and used by the masses, but they need to focus on the safety of the individuals who will suffer later in life for things they did to their bodies at a younger age when they were focusing on the immediate results and not their future. If it only created an athletic advantage then yes legalize it but not when it is harmful to the safety and wellbeing of the individual taking it.

I was told by a PT that alot of Energy drinks like Monster, etc. are being pulled off the shelves in Europe due to health concerns and won't be long until they start pulling them here. I'm totally with you, though for what they do to the body I don't see much difference between them and ampthetamines, effects they have on the body may be closer to eachother than many would like to think.

I used to naively think that only a few pros were juiced up, which made it unfair. Now I pretty much think they all are, so I say let em shoot, snort, inject, or lather on whatever PED they want.

Excellent points kicker!

Sports are definitely more than entertainment to me. I wanna see accomplishments. Thats what cool about sports and rooting for your team. You feel like they accomplished something. Movies, shows, ISuers posts, etc. are entertainment. I never seen triple digit day count down to the start of the Jersey Shore season. I've never been on my knees praying that Batman wins at the end.

I guess I've never drank one that made me stay awake for 3 days and made me think giant spiders were invading my home.....................thereby prompting me to burn my trailer down, killing my kids..........
