Do we miss postseason because BIG plays 18?

Instead of 16 games like those panzies in conferences like ACC and SEC? Thats two less "Maryland Eastern Shores" and "Towson States", and two more Wisconsins and Michigan States on the schedule. Factor in Big/acc challenge, plus our ties with rivals like ISU and UNI, plus scheduling teams like Creighton. Without these factors maybe we win 2-4 more games = 20 wins and playing in best conf in land = NIT for sure and maybe NCAA??

No. No one gives a **** about the number of wins. We'll miss the NIT because we have such a low RPI because we played too many Chicago St's and Campbell's in the non-conference.

Actually we miss the NIT cause we lost to those schools, not because we played them.

I think you are on to something. This is why the entire PAC-12 won't make it in.

Ummmmm. We only played MSU, Michigan, and OSU once, which is a good thing since they are the three best teams in the conference. ISU on the other hand had to play Kansas, Baylor, and Missouri twice in their 18 game conference schedule.

I feel dirty for writing that.

yeah, who says we wouldn't end up trading 2 of our wins for 2 ooc loses? We did lose to Campbell, so it isn't impossible.

you should feel dirty.

Just go 12-7 in a really tough conference, throw in one or two quality road wins, and you are in the NCAA tournament.

Oh wait, those hated CyClowns just did that. Sad, but true.

What is amazing is how close we really were. We went 9-11 in the Big Ten with the following losses:

1. A really dumb home loss to Nebby where we just didn't play any defense the last 10 minutes of the game.
2. Close loss on the road to Penn State.
3. Close loss at home to the NW ThugCats (could have won on last possession with wide-open three that Oglesby hits in his sleep usually).

Win those three, and we finish 12-7 and 20-14. I think that would have been good enough to sneak into the NCAA tournament.

I have my doubts that we get a bid even if we had gone 20-14(12-7).
Our SOS would still be 84,or whatever. So 3 more wins vs weak RPI teams probably does not help that much.
After the Campbell loss, we probably needed to run the table,go 18-0 in the Big Ten,and then maybe we get on the bubble....it is ridiculous, but that is how it seems. Meanwhile NW could have gone winless in the Big Ten,and probably make the NIT.
