Do we expect any committs tonight from the visits this weekend.............

Just because 5* players in the past didn't work out, doesn't mean Iowa SHOULDN'T try to get them.

Maybe Iowa should continue trying to win games with walk-ons and 2* guys with little real athletic talent. Yeah that worked out great the last two years.

Dave, you are aware that we do and have correct?

Yes, I am aware of that, but many on this site feel the need to always point out the fact that kids from 5-10 years ago didn't pan out that were 5* guys, Iowa shouldn't recruit them because they MIGHT bust.

Attrition hurt us far more than the recruiting classes did.

Yes, but the reason is because the "attrition" left 2* and walk-ons to fill the two depths. If Iowa was better at recruiting, meaning getting less than 10-15 guys where are 2* recruits each year, less talented players wouldn't see the field if a higher rated player didn't pan out or transferred or quit.

I wasn't aware that Iowa didn't try to get 5* players. I just assumed we had been unsuccessful at it for the last 30 years. Who knew that they never even tried. It all makes sense now! :)

And BTW, I agree with you about those who poin out that highly rated players sometimes don't succeed. To me, the evidence is crystal clear that, overall, highly rated players do well and the more of them you have, the better. It's why the SEC is so good.

What recruiting classes has Iowa had that have 10-15 2* guys? Can you name one?

Clearly you can't read because my comment doesn't say Iowa should START trying to get them. As in implying they weren't trying. I just think too many fans on this site think that just because 10 years ago KF and staff had success with a few 2* and walk on guys that they will continue to do so. Obviously, it hasn't worked out the last few years when the two depths were filled with 2*/walk on level talent so why would it start again?

Iowa needs to find a happy medium, which is why I like this years class so far 16 - 3* guys. That is a good class, not great but not bad either.
