djk vs slaton/marion

as wrestling fans do you think djk's recent charges are a bigger fail/fall then slaton and marion?

id say djk if we were playing for bcs game but at this point i really don't care i think slaton and marion being ineligible here recently has hurt our chances at repeating a national championship

i don't even know if you can compare the two scenarios but in my eyes losing these wrestlers was a bigger dissapointment

I think losing Slaton doesn't compare because we won the NC pretty easily last year. DJK is a non factor because he played the year and they were nowhere near a title team. In my opinion losing MM this year is the biggest disappointment because him possibly being at 149 and scoring some points at nationals could have made a difference. I say this thinking that young Ballweg keeps the 141 spot and continues to do a decent job; I have no idea if Montell is fit to be a 149lber.

I think DJK's charges are a much bigger fail. It could possibly impact the bowl outcome, but with a 7-5 record it doesn't mean much at this point other than pride. Otherwise I concur with pump's assessment.

Marion is a bigger loss. DJK was done, and we had people fill in for Slaton. Marion probably could have at least been competitive @ 49 this year.

Apparently Montell is wrestling Metcalf at lot at HWC this year and did as well in the room last year against Metcalf as anybody else......so I would guess you might say he could be competitive at 149 I would think. That being said I think it would be better for his placement and Team Points to be at 141 if he can make it back and make weight ok.

For us as hawkeyes, Marion was bigger. The timing was horrible for him to leave when we were expecting a down year anyway. For the people involved, DJK by far. He could have very easily lost himself a spot in the NFL along with millions of dollars that would come with it.
