DJK Speed

I think DJK is great. However, most of us probably wouldn't know who DJK is today if Douglas & Bowman hadn't screwed up. DJK, Douglas & Bowman were all in the same recruiting class.

Douglas and Bowman played as true freshman. Douglas led Iowa in receptions with 49 catches. If Douglas hadn't screwed up & stayed healthy he probably would have held every Iowa receiving record when he left the program after last season.

While, some posters have criticized DJK for his attitude & other things, he is a much better citizen and HAWKEYE than the other two. Congrats to DJK!

And James Cleveland too. I think DJK would still have emerged, but he would not have had four years of full playing time, that's pretty certain. Douglas was incredibly polished for a freshman, if I recall correctly (route running, not so much with the social mores), but lacked speed. Bowman was supposed to be really fast but if he was really that good, wouldn't he have resurfaced somewhere, as Cleveland did?

It DID happen that way. It wasn't a complete stop, but there was definitely a pause and then an acceleration as he sized up the backer in front of him. I watched it again yesterday. It was impressive as was the catch on the pass that was thrown behind him on said crossing route.

DJK's draft status will depend on his combine numbers. I, for one, am very curious as to how he'll do. If he does well he could definitely move into the first three rounds.

No, it didn't happen that way at all. I am watching it on DVR right now. It wasn't close to a stop. What are you talking about!?.....just saying.

There was definitely a slow down and go on his way to the corner. He showed some burst beating the pursuit.

He hesitated slightly before punching the gas, yes. But that likely had more to do with getting his balance after that spin than serving as an intentional move to fool the defender.

There was definately a hesitation on DJ's part. I remember yelling at the TV "what are you doing?!?!?!," and then stopped complaining after he scored.

yeah, there was no pause. i re-watch every game twice, not one time watching that play did i think this. I think the fact that i had to ask what play it was (based off of your description) is evidence enough that it has a "fish story" feel to it. he made a play thats it, after all he lives by the motto Make Plays Or Die

Edit: He may have gathered himself while adjusting after the catch, but it was all ad-lib. Definitely not pre-meditated.
