Oh but not just any AFL team, this is the prestigious Iowa barnstormers! the pride of Veteran's Memorial Auditorium. Producer of such talent as Kirk Warner, winner of an AFL title, dropped to A2 and then promoted back to AFL1. The team that took flying high to a new level, that united a fan base and in doing so united all of Knoxville, Monroe, Winterset, and Bevington. These are the Iowa barnstormers, the Green bay Packers of the AFL.

edit: also winners of the "most chew spit in the aisles award" for 5 consecutive years.

One thing working against him in this era of NFL is the shorter kickoff/increased touchback rule. That is going to place less value on KOR specialists who might be borderline position players.

That doesn't say anything one way or the other. Tim Dodge played for the Barnstormers.

Judging by DJKs college career, his measurables, and looking at the 4th 5th and 6th receivers and return men who are actually on NFL rosters, most of who no one has ever heard of, yes DJK had the talent to make a roster.

Im not defending or attacking the guy, im just looking at the reality of it logically.

To be one of those last guys on a roster you have to be a extra hard worker and a team first guy not someone who is know to have drug, attitude and work ethic problems.

Jon Miller said that DJK would run a 4.4 40 so I'm sure he'd run a 4.9 40 as he was pretty off on the McNutt predictions.

If you looked at it logically, you'd realize that Kurt forced him out of the league, and we know that at least his evil influence does not stretch into Canada.
 
You're right being the all time leading receiver in catches at a big ten school, does not normally earn you the respect of most NFL teams. DJK had a ton of talent I remember his pro day numbers being pretty solid. Don't let your emotions get in the way of talent evaluation. Now if you want to try an question his charachter or work ethic that may be another story, but unless you have some personal knowledge about him that would just be speculation. DJK = talanted enough to play in AFL, CFL, and possibly NFL.

DJK's 40 hand timed was anywhere between 4.43 and 4.59. That is hand timing for you. That probably equates to somewhere in the low 4.5's. That is respectable.

But, his combined cone and shuttle numbers were below what you would expect for a draft worthy receiver, as were his other workout numbers. There were guys who got lower numbers in individual events, but he was pretty much down toward the bottom across all results. These numbers indicate your ability to get separation against NFL DB's.

What I think is hysterical are the people who tell you about a player's projected draft status before that player worked out for NFL teams. So, the "he was projected to go" before he got in trouble argument is just plain silly.

His numbers just are not there. There are plenty of amazing college receivers that can't make it in the NFL. Purdue has had a few over the years.
 
DJK was lazy, and took a lot of plays off. Might also have something to do with his fortune. Can we stop talking about a former player who got kicked off the team? I really don't care about him anymore.

I thought for a lot of the time he was at Iowa he was the only "playmaker".

I do think his after hours fun time lost the kid a huge amount of money.

I think he could have made an NFL roster if he would have kept his nose clean.

Seems to me a lot of people who were really ****** about what he did, are more happy if the kid fails. Kinda like hoping your ex has a horrible life after they dump your sorry ***. Makes people look petty.

Heres the deal, DJK was a ********* and a quitter. I'm not rooting against him, but I ain't ******* on his head if his hair was on fire either.
