"DJK clearly the best wideout here"

"Iowa's Derrell Johnson-Koulianos is clearly the best wideout here, showing sure hands and catching everything away from his frame. Johnson-Koulianos also displayed good body control and fluidity with his routes, and while he's not a blazer he gets in and out of breaks well. Character is a major concern after the Hawkeyes dismissed him from the team following his arrest on drug charges, but the talent is there for Johnson-Koulianos."

And the top 5:
"There are some big character issues to be addressed after Johnson-Koulianos was dismissed by the Hawkeyes following a drug arrest, but he was clearly the best receiver on the practice field in San Antonio. He is not a blazer but is a savvy route-runner with sure hands who can make big gains after the catch."

Yeah, he could fit in with New England or New Orleans.

He has below average speed for the NFL.
He isn't very tall.
He doesn't fight for balls - can he jump?.

Runs good routes and has good hands... Sounds like Ed Hinkle - another good Hawkeye receiver.

could see him sticking with someone as a KR guy and 4th receiver with a team that likes to spread the ball around.
unlike some here, i really wish him the best. sucks the way it went down, but he's trying to build his credibility back up. some will never let it go or forgive, but i think the majority of hawk fans are willing to give the kid another chance.

I most definitely wish him the best, and expect big things.

I said in another thread that he shouldn't be able to wear the Hawkeye helmet in this game, and i believe that because the punishment fits the crime. But that doesn't mean that I, or others like me, hope that he fails.

I put my son in timeout when he screws up, but that doesn't mean I don't still love him.

couldn't agree more.

No doubt he is the best WR there...he would have been at the Senior Bowl were it not for his decisions.

True, but I think this is big step number 2 in the maturation of DJK. First was when everyone thought he was going to seek revenge and lash out at the coaches and the program, but he did the opposite. 2nd is this, he could have acted like he was slighted or too good for this game and sulked, but instead he has shown up and wowed them the way he did us for 4 years. He is never going to be a #1 on the next level, but I think he is gonna have a great career.

he could very easily go undrafted if teams are afraid of the drug issue, but if so i think he'll get a lot of calls to be a FA pickup.
he has shown incredible maturity this last month and is on his way to repairing his image.

from a cocaine user to incredible maturity in a couples months?

comparatively speaking obviously.

admit it, we all expected him to throw Kirk and Iowa under the bus, at least to some extent. that he hasn't done that (and held his tongue) has been surprising to me, didn't think he had that in him. this coming from one of his biggest fans prior to his arrest.

I always thought that the 3 weak spots in DJK's game were 1. He's not a burner, 2. He doesn't really fight for jump balls, 3. He catches passes with his body a little too much.

The speed issue isn't going to change, but that's not going to be something that keeps him off the field at the next level.

I can't see the game, so I don't know how he's doing with jump balls. But, he's likely going to be a slot receiver in the NFL, rather than the #1 guy he was here, so he won't see nearly as many jump ball opportunities.

And catching with his body was his biggest weak spot, IMO. He's got good hands, but for whatever reason he chose not to use them a lot. But from the sounds of it, he's getting his hands away from his body and really catching the ball. That will help him out a lot.

And I think the character issues will take care of themselves. He's shown much more maturity than I expected since his dismissal.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets drafted in the later rounds, but he's probably going to be a big steal as a FA.

Are you really comparing DJK to Hinkle? Seriously:confused: Hinkel couldn't carry DJK's jock!
