dishnetwork

DirecTV/ Dish Network argument.
If you know a woman with all the goods but she is into women. What good is the awesome equipment if you don't even get what you want?

A long-term agreement with Dish still has not been reached and the current short-term arrangement expires early Saturday. Unfortunately, talks have stalled and Dish customers may not be able to see their games on BTN. Dish is still demanding preferential treatment, significantly better treatment than provided by our deals with their competitors. We do not anticipate another short-term arrangement will be reached. Your voice matters! Comment at www.facebook.com/dish and find other providers that carry BTN at www.IWantBTN.com.

Would you expect anything less than one side pinning it on the other side. Both sides are greedy and to blame regardless of whether BTN wants to point the finger at Dish or not.

It's easy to complain about Dish Network and change providers since they carry the station. You can't change what station it's on so it's hard to complain about BTN even though they're just as guilty in the situation. I dropped Dish altogether and just have locals. I'd rather have to plan to watch something somewhere else then have to pay any provider's outrageous prices for a max of 8 channels that I actually want. So I either go somewhere to watch it or just do without. I know I spend more time do better things now then just watching tv shows with the same plots over and over again.

Quite frankly if I could talk my wife into it I would just cancel everything and steal the sports I want online. Cable TV is a freaking racket.

As far as AMC or other channels go, I can wait until they show up on netflix. I'm a patient guy when it comes to stuff like that.

Anyone know of any streams for the game this weekend. Might have to go that route if Dish/ BTN can't make a deal?

Here is a quote from an online chat I just had with a Dish Network customer service representative:

Sandy G (ID: 8QR): "We will hold the line against this attempt at profiteering."

Yikes. All the evidence is pointing to no BTN in my house on Saturday.

Well, didn't really get anywhere with any news or answers today, but I did get $10 off my bill for 24 months with no obligation to stay. I am also out from under my contract with Dish, so if BTN is dropped I am free to look around and switch. I was also offered Multi-Sports pack or something for half price which would give me Red Zone, but I don't watch NFL, and Encore for like $2, but their movies stink...so I think Dish is starting to feel the pinch.

I still think it's unfortunate and don't fully blame Dish. BTN tossing out those posts on facebook is just feeding the frenzy in their favor. I'm close to just dropping it all.

This is so two sided. I always is. But keep in mind, the btn stands to make much more money out of the deals then dish. Dish is trying to keep costs lower to keep their programming fees lower then with other carriers.

And when you see BTN's facebook page, they keep saying "Dish is not interested in making a fair deal" and "They insist on preferential treatment". What are the details, exactly? How do we know they aren't being fair? The other thing they keep saying is "Dish has a history of dropping channels in negotiations" which, again in my opinion, is just feeding a frenzy. I'm actually starting to think this is more on the BTN than Dish.

cancelations are where deals are made. just got a 200$ microcell from at&t for free cuz I was gunna leave. I hope it gets me service though...
