Diesel suggests 3/10 for Hoosier makeup. Reax?

That date would make the most sense, but would, like Jon says, put more pressure on the Big and other teams to prepare. I personally thought tonight at Carver would be the best time to do it. I am certain we could handle the logistics at Carver. No way Indiana would agree with that, if they have a choice.....

It is fairly certain that we will get the Thursday Bye, so it would be better than doing it in the 5 days before Michigan State because there is a five day layover, same for Michigan State, so we get the shaft.....

Again the only good thing is that the team gets a chance to recover from the flu or whatever illness they have before the Wisconsin game which is almost as important as the MSU game, almost.....

The Hawkeyes played 3 games in a row in the Bahamas (2 of which went into overtime) then had a bunch of flight problems getting home and yet still beat Notre Dame two days later. That's 4 games in 5 days plus 2 overtimes. Not sure why people here seem so afraid to play 4 games in 8 days. Its certainly not ideal, but it's not like they don't have the depth to get through it.

I know what you're saying but that was at the beginning of the season (fresher legs) and these games have higher implications than those did. I do think they have the depth to pull it off but @Minny, @Ind and @MSU is tougher than the same neutral site vs. Xavier, UTEP, Nova and a home game vs. ND.

why didn't they bump the women's game and maybe do a doubleheader like 5:00 women's and 8:00 mens or something. Not like anyone is going to watch IU women so just let those 375 fans stay and take in the mens.

I like that idea, but it should have been arranged yesterday.....

Yeah somebody made this point in another thread about the postponement, dont remember who or what thread exactly but it is valid. It may have been WindsorHawk.

I dont think the B1G extends the season, even if its by a day. Get the game over ASAP, like the 27th of February.

The 27th gives us one day to travel and prepare for Purdue, which is very tough at home.....

We barely beat a below average team at home in a game where we played no defense at all (more than likely because of being worn down. A game we would normally dominate became a crap shoot. There is no way to know for sure that was the reason but its very likely that it was. This season already has enough what if moments with all the close loses. The last thing I want is to finish one game back because we lost to Purdue at home in a Notre Dame type game. Depth doesn't do much good when every player is worn out before opening tip.

No offense, but 4 games of which 3 were played at the same site and the other at home is not the same as playing 4 games in four cities in 7 days (Iowa City, then Minneapolis, then Bloomington, then back to Iowa City). In addition, 4 games in December is not the same as 4 games in February when we are 1.5 games out of our first regular season conference title in 35 years.

Sorry, but going into the Badger game this weekend they will have played exactly ONE game in 14 days...how exactly will they not be rested enough for 4 games in 8 days?

Frankly, I worry more about rust going into the Wisconsin game than I do anything else.. 1 game in 14 days. That's another reason it would've been nice to have the Indiana game somewhere, ANYWHERE, tonight or even tomorrow night. Keeps the team in some kind of a rhythm.

IMO, the silence from anybody in the Iowa athletic department is deafening. There will be no return trip to Bloomington unless the B1G says so come Friday afternoon.

Kudos to Barta if this is what is going down.

I'm sure there are discussions and negotiations taking place that we are not privy to. Going to give GarBar the benefit of the doubt on this one to do the right thing for his program.

There are only so many dates to chooose from to play the game. It wouldnt be that hard to figure out.

Yeah I agree, I bet the players are dying to get on the court and play someone...anyone. But hey, maybe in those 14 days White and McCabe can rediscover their 3 point shot :)

That's like saying if you stay awake for 2 strait days you shouldn't be tired if you got 12 hours sleep before that.

Honestly, I hope Iowa is holding out for a later date. If 3/10 messes with the BTT seeding, well tough. Make a provisional seeding. If Iowa wins, then this. If Iowa loses, then that.

According to the Gazette, Barta is now on the annual Hawkeye Cruise and according to the SID is unavailable for comment. That made me laugh. In this day and age EVERYONE is available. :D

Agreed. This is the interesting aspect of the situation now. I'm guessing Barta is holding out on traveling back to Bloomington.
