Diesel suggests 3/10 for Hoosier makeup. Reax?

B1G conference isn't going to allow Iowa to play this game at CHA. So since we are gonna have to risk our (iowa basketball team) lives playing in disAssembly Hall, the 27th sounds good to me.

I feel Iowa has a much better chance of going on a skid trying to cram 4 conference games into one week.

As for the NCAA Tournament, I am not concerned about that right now. Iowa will have time to rest between the BTT and the start of the NCAA Tournament. A Sunday BTT championship game at the latest, and a Thursday NCAA game at the earliest. Could end up being Friday/Saturday until the following Friday, depending.

Either way, Iowa is being put in a bad (or potentially bad) spot since IU is refusing to cooperate in playing the game anywhere except for the ruins of assembly hall.

This is where I'm at. There's a chance cramming a bunch of games together won't affect the team but I'd rather find that out in the B10 tourney rather than in the regular season. I think they have a greater chance of losing the first round bye in the tournament by cramming 4 games into one week. If Iowa wins against Wisky, Minny and Indiana, it won't really matter if they get bounced on Saturday or Sunday of the tourney. They will still have a good seed in the NCAAs and will be well rested by the time they play again. If they go on a 2 or 3 (or worse) skid to end the regular season, lose their first round bye and get bounced early in the B10 tourney, they are going to be looking at a 6 seed at best in the NCAAs.

Forget this. Make it up on a day that both teams already have a game--a double header. We would win that game by 40 points due to depth alone.

Like I said in my other post, what if Iowa goes on a skid and has to play Thursday of the B1G tourney? That could possibly be 5 games in a week right before the NCAA tourney.

While it is not likely to happen that way I would not give it any chance of happening.

Even if that does happen Iowa still has 2 full days of rest in between games. Maybe it is just me but I think Marble plays better when the games are closer together. The 3 conference games Marble has played when having a week off he was 11-35 (31%). He looked sluggish in the Penn State game and I remember he did not play well against Minnesota even though the team won by 21 points, the third one was against Nebraska and I don't remember how he looked (he shot like crap).

To me playing March 10th would be much better for Iowa than to try and cram 4 games in 7 days next week. I know playing March 10th would force Iowa to play with only 1 day rest and 3 games in 5 days, either way Iowa gets screwed. The best scenario would have been to play today and Indiana screwed Iowa by refusing to play in a different venue.

Play the game at the Mark (iWireless Center) in the Quad Cities.
Awesome atmosphere for the NIT game against DePaul, back in the days.
Would love to see this game on You Tube.

what is with all the "if Iowa goes on a 3,4,or 5 game skid" crap?

Not likely but not impossible either. I want this team rested and ready to explode when the NCAA tournament rolls around, not tired and beat down from playing a bunch of games the week of the B1G tourney.

Obviously we have similar concerns but I'm worried that we'll drop some critical games down the stretch due to being tired from playing a bunch of games leading up to the B10 tourney and NCAAs. I don't want that to cost us a good seed.

So lets go get that good seed and have nothing left in the tank for the NCAA tourney.

Do you think more people remember Indiana got a 1 seed last year or that Michigan made the national title game?

These kids are 18-22. The following week is zero concern at all. College kids aren't "run down" the following week after a rough stretch. They can however be sluggish from to much travel in the same week. I think the odds of winning the 2nd game would go down a little and the odds of winning the 3rd game would go down a lot.

Exactly. It was pointed out earlier that they will have at least 4 days to rest up between the B10 tourney and the NCAAs. That should be plenty.

If we played the game on the 27th, I think the Purdue game would be a lot like the Notre Dame game after the battle for atlantis. We would be really sluggish and end up in a dogfight.

One thing just came to me...if its 3/10, that means the entire seeding process for every B1G team is held up, meaning less time for others to prepare for the B1G opponents...I don't see the league allowing that.

Yeah somebody made this point in another thread about the postponement, dont remember who or what thread exactly but it is valid. It may have been WindsorHawk.

I dont think the B1G extends the season, even if its by a day. Get the game over ASAP, like the 27th of February.

So you think the B1G is going hose us in the thick of a run for the conference title?

At least in that scenario everyone would be playing by the same rules. But by putting it on the 27th screws Iowa more than anyone.

The Hawkeyes played 3 games in a row in the Bahamas (2 of which went into overtime) then had a bunch of flight problems getting home and yet still beat Notre Dame two days later. That's 4 games in 5 days plus 2 overtimes. Not sure why people here seem so afraid to play 4 games in 8 days. Its certainly not ideal, but it's not like they don't have the depth to get through it.
