Did you guys catch Molly Davis got slapped in the stomach and face and nothing called?

I have little doubt she would also flip the kids off at the Kinnick Wave were she ever there for it. She would probably find a way to play the lack of respect card there as well.

Not kidding.
WHat I want to know is this:

1) What kind of exercises do you have to do to support 3lb eyelashes for a 40 minute basketball game.

2) What kind of glue hold 3lb eyelashes on for 40 minutes of a basketball game.

3) Is there a high-grade, sold-to-athletes-only, super glue impervious to sweat?

IMO, both teams did a lot of holding and grabbing. It was a hard game to officiate. I’m not giving the refs a pass but trying to get a hold of all the hacking isn’t as easy as some of you may think.

Officiating is not what lost this game. Everyone here bitches about it, but funnily enough no one has ever—EVER—said the Hawks have been on the upside of officiating.

So by that logic you all think that the only team that’s ever gotten screwed, ever, in the history of Hawkeye basketball is the Hawks. That kind of hubris is right up there with flat earth.

LSU was the better team tonight.
I think it's not a mutually exclusive thing to say that the officiating was a complete and total disgrace. And also say that LSU played better and deserved to win. Cause they did. Iowa gave up over 50 pts in the first half and 102 for the game. No if ands or butts about it that won't win you damn near any game. But the officials were the talk of the game as bad as they were for both teams.

The game was officiated poorly, many unbiased observers noted that. But I don't think it was unbalanced. They called some ticky-tack stuff at times, and then let huge contact go at other times.

But, ultimately, the Hawks lost because LSU caught fire in the first half, and then the Hawks couldn't get enough stops in the second half when they were trying to come back. Whining about officiating (especially in a 17 points loss) is for losers...our players and coaches didn't do it, we shouldn't either.

My point is more that people think there's some conspiracy or that the officials "weren't qualified." That's just completely ridiculous IMO.

The tech was the worst. But calling 2 offensive fouls like that when you aren't calling the defender getting all handsy on her almost seemed like an agenda was playing out. I'm so torn 50/50 on whether the officials were just out of their league or they had an agenda.

There were so many bad calls on LSU that I lean towards the former. But if the plan was to hide their agenda with some random bad calls on LSU that were more meaningless, then they did a flawless job of executing that plan.

It's also possible that two refs were bad and one had an agenda. I read somewhere that the same ref called all four fouls on Clark. No idea if that's true tho.

I hated those offensive calls. You can't let the D hand-check the ball-handler, and then call the offensive player for fighting off the hand-check. But, we hammered them a few times in the post without getting called as well. I don't think it was biased, just bad.

And you need to take these off once in a while watching games.

For a Hawkeye Fan.....you sure have found ways to go out of your way not to defend our team when they should be defended. LSU shooting lights out and horrible officiating favoring LSU at Iowa's expense can both be true....in fact they both were. Both were a big factor in determining the outcome. Even Gary Close said the officiating was horrible.

Gotcha. I'm not on any conspiracy train by any means. I just thought they were terrible. Embarrassingly so. Mulchay was on the court more then players were running into refs and that was fine but Clark gets called for a delay of game T during a dead ball.... Along with several others. Reese karate chopped up poor Molly Davis towards the end and it wasn't called.

Like I said, LSU players and staff are a bunch of assholes. But this grand conspiracy thing where the Hawks are the only team to get screwed out of 350 women's D1 programs, and how there's some Illuminati agenda against Iowa is just dumb. I love the Hawks. Average 10,000 miles a year driving to football games and wrestling duals and spend way more money than I want to think about. I'm also not obtuse enough to think that Iowa is the only team to ever come out on the bottom of reffing when they play any opponent. There were TONS of fouls that didnt' get called against USC because the refs were letting them play. On both sides. But I never saw you come out and bitch about any of those not getting called on Iowa. It's not at all different than the stuff @ClintonIAfan did.

Again, why weren't you bitching about Clark doing the Cena thing and not getting called for it, but yet it's a capital crime when a team gives her her own medicine back? I'm all about the Hawks, man, but shit like that goes both ways. It's just total delusion in here.

Where did anyone say that Iowa is the only team that gets screwed? I'm not sure Iowa would have won the game had the officiating not been controversially, but I (along with many) would have liked to see what would have happened. When, how, and who the fouls were called on were significant. I do find it laughable that LSU fans point out 19 fouls on Iowa to 18 on LSU.....but fail to mention the specifics of how those fouls broke down.

Now LSU did have a couple of there players on the bench in the first half with foul trouble as well.....and really that 2nd period is where Iowa dug themselves that huge hole....or rather that bench player went off....to be also fair.

But the T on Clark sequence and the no calls on Trashy Kim for being out on the court.....sealed any chance of making this a game going into the 4th quarter.

BTW...what Clark did....totally different circumstances and how they were done. She did not stalk any Louisville Players like trashy Angel did.

If I go back to almost any game thread you've participated in, MBB, WBB, Football...you complain about calls being skewed against Iowa. You never bring up calls or no calls that go our way. If you can't see it in the USC game I don't know what to tell you. I'm almost compelled to go back and rewatch it to give you timestamps. It wasn't just me either. Lots of media people brought it up how they were letting both teams play and lots of stuff wasn't getting called. But you ignore that, right?

Ok, maybe I'll clarify it. You think Iowa is the only team who gets screwed in an Iowa game.

Please find all examples. Every year. Rarely do I complain about officiating...only when warranted like yesterday.

Come on Fry, you know as well as I do that I'm usually calling out our play for losses. 95% of the time. Our own play.

Lol. You just said all you needed to say.
Please find all of those examples. Almost every game thread....should not be hard to find I would think. There should be 100s to 1,000s of examples. This should be interesting.

If anything, in the past, you have been more critical of my critical takes of our own game play....which again....and I know we have had this discussion before.....I'm 95% more critical of our own team play vs the officials and deciding our outcomes. Fran and Brian do a bang up job there all on their own. Even Bluder's defense usually is their under-doing.....but also think that is combination of lacking height and athleticism there.

Yesterday, the officiating was a big factor, but may not have been enough to change the outcome based on how LSU was shooting. But, it sure would have been nice to know for sure. We will never know now.

Molly getting slapped by Trash Queen, Kimmy on the court, and Trash Queen stalking Clark should absolutely be called out though. When player safety is an issue that should not be tolerated.

My wife got mad at me during the game when I said that the refs were bad both ways. Sometimes my objectivity gets me in marriage jail...

The difference in the game is that LSU had substantially better depth so could withstand the foul trouble much better than us. At the end of the day, that was the difference. I have a feeling that we are going to see some depth coming in during the off-season.

That said, a veteran official that understands the nuances of the game, would have ignored the ball-flip by Clark in the heat of the moment. It may not always seem fair, but you simply don't force stars of the game to the bench unless it's something glaring.

It reminds me of something Charles Barkley said during an NBA game. Someone on the set lamented that the stars get "protected," and Charles said something to the effect of, "Damn right they do, and they should!"
