Did I hear Finebaum right?

So I just heard Finebaum say he was embarrassed by SEC performance on Saturday and their scheduling of weak opponents at the end of the season. Also said that there was a huge drop off after Alabama. So the SEC isn't so strong from top to bottom?

Perhaps they've finally run out of kool-aid.

It'sgoing to be hard to defend their over all performance against those cupcakes. Some of those cupcakes bit back a little.

Proof's in the pudding. Hard to even defend the "depth" of the SEC this year. Fact is, there is a large drop off after Alabama, even if they are the most talented team in the country. SEC did themselves no favors with this weeks schedule.

This discussion is vastly overblown. We continue to schedule FCS opponents. I believe we have the dreaded UNI again next year. So boring. So just because they schedule a cupcake the week before their arch rivals might actually be a good thing .

You have to schedule 12 games, there are so many teams, Bama scheduled a tough opener with Wisky, or so we thought .

I think the point of the OP is that the SEC mouthpiece has actually just stated what most of us have been saying, this season, and just caved in a lot of the arguments against Iowa, from EfSecPN.

Your statement here wipes any chance that you have any credibility. First we play 2 more FCS opponents in the coming years due to contractual agreements made prior to outlawing any future scheduling of FCS opponents. Next year is NDSU, the defending champs. Then we play UNI once more. Second we play the FCS opponents during the non con portion of our schedule and not the tail end of our season to give ourselves a defacto bye week like the SEC.

What the SEC does is a joke.

Someone remind me who alabamas best win is this year...arkansas? Also didn't they lose at home to a 3 loss team?

Why is alabama far and away the best team again?

If you've listened to Finebaum this is not unusual for him. He's has no issues talking trash about SEC teams and coaches. If you think Iowa fans hate him, talk to some SEC fans. Many of his regular callers are SEC fans who can't stand him.

I listen to Paul a lot, because his callers make me laugh on my commute, plus I live in SEC country. Paul is an SEC homer, and he would admit that, but he is reasonably fair minded and not afraid to call out SEC teams when they look bad.

Also, how many times are teams like South Carolina and Georgia ranked in the preseason despite how mediocre they finished at the season prior. It's easier getting a ranking boost by beating a ranked team in week 3 than it is beating the same team (only unranked and with a mediocre record) in week 12.

Now I think we can add Old Miss to that list of teams that will get the benefit of the doubt and start the season high in the polls, only to finish mediocre

You just don't understand how this works. Bama's loss to a 3-loss team at home is better than most teams' best wins. Why? #SECdomination

Alabama destroyed the number 8 team in the country last weekend and I know they were number 8 because ESPN's scoreboard graphic, thing said so.

Yup. I saw that. There must have been a very, very, very tiny little asterisk next to that 8 because I think they were the #8 FCS ranked team. Or not. Just guessing, I am not even going to bother.

Should the Hawks win out I hope they get 'Bama in the semi-final. #2 vs. #3? 14-0 has a nice ring to it going into the NCG ...
