Did anyone see this fail in the QC Times / Hawkmania Gesell article?

Yea,that is sloppy...but I liked the article.

McCaffery stayed on the case this summer, keeping a promise he made to Gesell to attend each and every Attack tip-off.

“Yeah, it was kind of crazy,â€￾ said the 6-foot-1 guard who has averaged more than 22 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds in his prep career. “He literally didn’t miss a game. It meant a lot. It’s definitely good to be going someplace where you are wanted, and Iowa is definitely the place.â€￾

Wow, I did not know that. Impressive!

Very good article, Stormin, Gesell coming to the Hawks is an Event. The second coming of Bobby Hurley on steroids. I like the attitude of the players who have signed and become Hawkeyes. Josh Oglesby mentioned that he was working on Gesell and Woodbury to convince them to get on board, now Mike G is doing the same. The lads have a career as diplomats or ambassadors to look forward to.

As ignorant as the picture is, the article is quite good. It would be nice to see Gesell have some influence with Woodbury, although, I don't think too much influence would be needed in this case.

Newspapers are barely hanging on. This is particularly true for regional papers. They are working on skeleton low paid staffs.

One was the last time any of you paid for a paper? It has been years for me. Pretty much get all my news from national online sources.

Really can't expect professionalism when you are getting the news for free.

One? Don't you mean when? Maybe you need a new editor. Just playing with cha......lol.

Obviously this made quite an impression on Gesell.

Doesn't this mean that Fran was there for every one of Woodbury's tip-offs, too? Let's hope it made the same kind of impression on Adam.

It made an impression on Oglesby last Summer as well as Fran watched Josh. This is one of those things that I like about Fran. He brings credibility to the head coaching position, he is upfront and honest with kids.
When Fran says he doesn't panic, I have to believe him, when one thing goes wrong, he just moves forward. When you have a coach that doesn't let the bad affect him publicly, that is the guy that is going to be successful. Fran is genuine and has a swagger, not an arrogance that is abrasive to fans. There are so many good things about Fran and he is just a different kind of coach that Iowa needed. He has the personality and confidence that makes everyone around him better.
With all the stuff Iowa has went through in the past few years, it is still somewhat amazing to me that he was able to secure a player of Gesell's caliber and hopefully, one of Woodbury's caliber to go along with him. Iowa is back on the right path, this year will be better, the team will be better, with a good recruiting class I think even more fans will come back to Carver.
It was amazing to read the thoughts that Fran cannot close, hey he got Gesell, the highest ranked player Iowa has had in some time and if he gets Woodbury, well...I think any mention of him not closing again would simply be ignorant, as if it weren't already. The roster for the 2012-13 season is shaping up nicely, I expect Ingram to commit during his visit or shortly thereafter. The roster is being put together nicely and Woodbury would be a huge piece that would allow the other Iowa bigs to develop as Woodbury should be ready to go from Day 1.
Fran has had a good plan all along, it is coming together and as he sticks to his plan, Iowa basketball will be so much better off long term.

I really think in time we will look back and view Fran in the same light as Ferentz. He will get the job done in due time and is really a perfect fit for Iowa with his demeanor, attitude and approach.

Perhaps you were exagerating for entertainment purposes.........Gessel isn't anywhere near Bobby Hurley territory in basketball ability. Nice committment, but...........Hurley?

If Gesell falls anywhere between Horner and Hurley, Iowa got a heck of a player. It isn't wishful thinking that he can fall in between there somewhere. I do agree, Hurley he probably isn't, Hurley was one of the all-time great PG's in College Basketball.
