Not one word printed about the HAWKEYES resounding, exciting, over-time, road WIN
at Penn State

Is there some kind of BIAS in the reporting at the Ragister?

The DMR has lost a ton in national and international news as it publishes mostly AP newswire stories and stuff from other news sources. The sports page is just average now which is too bad as a good friend of my son is a sports reporter there. but when half of your sports page is USA today Sports you have really cut costs to try to make a buck.

If you live far enough away from the printing press you might not have seen the hawks in the sports page.

But in Des Moines even the latest of events , like the 2010 Orange Bowl win, make front page.

Honestly not a big surprise. Had Iowa lost to a crappy team like ISU did then it would be noteworthy, but taking care of business is less of an attention grabber than the meltdown that is ISU.

Get the disappointment, but it has nothing to do with bias. Personally, I think we can leave insecure rants to other fan bases. But vent away if it makes you feel better.

Hawks had the headline article on the front of the sport's page if you were a Des Moines area subscriber. Out of towners for the most part probably got the watered down Hawk version because of weekend and timing of the game I would guess.

If it weren't for mattress ads, ads for hearing aids, and obituaries the paper would probably be underwater. It's more social commentary than news.

When I lived in near Des Moines, I learned that the DM Register actually has different versions. Where I currently live, near the Quad Cities, gets a 2 star version. The Des Moines area gets a 4 star version. The stars have to do with when the version is printed. Less stars mean printed earlier. The 4 star is printed latest so it gets more current news. Plus, I believe, the 4 star version had more Des Moines local stuff in it.
