Destin McCauley

Intermatwrestle.com is indicating that Destin McCauley is signing his paperwork & announcing next week where he is wrestling next year....Anyone, aka Pin2Win, know where this might be? Would look great in black and gold!

If that's happening, Nebraska will most likely be reshuffling their lineup.

149 Sueflohn (I don't know if he could handle 157 as he was a 141 pounder in 2011-2012)
157 McCauley (I thought he always projected at 149, so he may be a little small here)
165 Green (still has his RS available as he wrestled as a true freshman in the 2011-2012 season)

Guess we can't getm all. Excuse my lack knowledge could someone giv e a little bwck ground on Cooper please

Problem is it seems that all our main rivals seem to get these instant impact type of recruit. McCauley grew up a Hawkeye fan and we can't land him

Interesting. I wonder if JA can make 65. If I remember right JA was like a top 20 recruit and Cooper was a to 30, no?

If I'm not mistaken, Akui went to St. Rita in Chicago while Cooper went to Providence Catholic. Akui was Intermat's #8 recruit while Cooper was Intermat's #23 recruit - both in the class of 2011.

Interesting. Would be nice to get Cooper. At the very least its an upgrade right now. Hawks1010 (or pin or anyone for that matter) if you're lurking, I know you're not a fan of Cooper's off the mat issues. But what is your evaluation of his skill set, and how do feel he would do next year if were to buy in to what TnT are selling? Could he be the missing piece going forward, or do you see him as a temporary fix?

I'm not getting my hopes high. He may be an upgrade, but not sure how much of one. I pasted his year from the NWCA site. I read on the other site he beat Jake Ballweg in high school, but his wrestling this past season doesn't seem like there's much there to get too hyped about. (Since he wrestled unattached I don't know if this is all of his matches.)

Thanks for the information. The results don't jump off the screen at you, but how hard was he training this year? Not only that, but it was up at 57 too.

My guess is he'll do much better after training in the Iowa room and wrestling down at 149. He looks pretty tough taking down Dylan Ness here FILAJR WTT: 66 KG Edwin Cooper (Unattached) vs. Dylan Ness (Minnesota Storm) - YouTube I for one will be ecstatic if it is confirmed he has committed. He could provide a substantial upgrade at 149 next year and could even grow into 157 if necessary once St. John graduates. I would have loved to have McCauley but if that wasn't an option, Cooper seems like the second best option available.

I'll be happy too if he commits and upgrades the spot. I'm just weary of the Dylan Carew syndrome hawkeye message boards have where a guy is pegged as a sure fire all-american before he ever proves anything as a hawkeye.

I agree with you. hit 2012 results look better. not tons of great wins but 32-1 w/ wins over some current hawks as well as Caleb Ervin 9-5
