Des Moines

Already happened. State Fairgrounds 94ish maybe I was there. Soundgarden and Metallica ******* epic. And now after researching I realize I've seen the Ramones, so everyone that hasn't can gtfo.

edit: that was 1996.

1996
Location: North America
Dates: June 27, 1996 – August 4, 1996

The Tea Party,

Sucks to be them, although I'm guessing they enjoyed the spike in web traffic. Total fail on the name what a horrible name for a band.

Des Moines landed the 2013 USA Track & Field Championships. This will be the 2nd time they have hosted the event, the first time being 2010.

Continually landing these events can only help our cause for hosting a Mens 2nd-3rd round.

Or maybe, it is much simpler than that. Des Moines has a track tradition with the Drake Relays so it makes sense there.

you're a bitter dude...did your ex hail from dsm?

For the first time in quite a while Cinncinnati has put in a bid to host second & third round games in 2014. It is a great location with about 1.8 million people in the metropolitan area.

Plus, Columbus, Indianapolis & Louisville are about 100 miles away. Lexington is only 85 miles from Cincinnati. If the NCAA puts Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State or Purdue in Cincinnati; tickets will be few & far between.

Who does the NCAA put in Des Moines to generate similar interest?

Don't forget Dodge is only 80 minutes away from DM. That's a major drawing card.

Des Moines landed the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam this past January. Events like those also raise the profile of a city, state and region. According the webpage below: "With tickets on sale now for the 2013 Show here in the Wells Fargo Arena, many Iowans' are making early plans for a return to Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam!"

Well **** OK4P - here we are 8 pages into this nonsense, and all you had to do was tell me that Des Moines was hosting this and I would have immediately adjusted my line of thinking.

Poor work jerkface.

HA! That's pure comedy. Not only do you not have any idea about events or event planning, but you are also a stand up comedian. Is there an approved project in place right now? Because to build the type of hotel you'll need they had better start breaking ground.

Has the NCAA been notified of this? Because it seems as though the 2013 tournament games have already been decided.

Better hurry up!

Wow!

What in the hell is up your butt? If you're going for "most bitter poster of 2012", then I think you definitely have it wrapped up so far.

Oh wise one, please tell me how many full service hotels and rooms that are available since you are such an expert in event planning.

And I don't know what 2013 has to do with what I said. If you read it correctly, I was talking about 2014.

Sorry Mr. Hawks 24 - that wasn't really written so clearly.

I was stating that since the 2013 sites have already been decided, that a project would need to have ground broken and have the NCAA notified about the development within the next 6-8 months, otherwise your claim of 2014 could have a timing issue.

As for the most bitter poster award, I am still a bit upset about being locked out of the 2011 Hawkeye Nation awards. What's most upsetting is that I was deserving of one, but was intentionally snubbed according to The Committee,

I need to make sure I never experience that kind of disappointment again, but I blame all of it (and you should as well) on EddyP.
