Derrick Mitchell transferring

I must of been watching different games than you hawkeye Bob because I don't remember any game that Toks was in that he did something that made me say Wow.

The point is, #2 is the highest he will go, and that isn't a certainty, ESPECIALLY if he keeps getting dinged up. And Toks has shown to be serviceable or he wouldn't have gotten the carries he DID get.

He practiced well and he followed KF to a tee. Haven't you heard? That KF is an offensive genius:rolleyes:

Most importantly, he stayed healthy. Mitchell has pretty much been an ongoing injury discussion the last year+. And Mitchell knows he will be, at best, 2nd-string, and Wadley can do everything Mitchell can in third-down situations. If DMX wants to play, his best option IS to transfer. It won't be hard to for him to find a place where he can be a prominent figure in the backfield. It just won't be at Iowa, unless Wadley gets injured.

He was faster than Daniels

More elusive than Daniels

Better hands than Daniels

His YPC was superior to Daniels

And he certainly brought more size to the equation than Wadley.

Considering AW will need to be spelled in order to keep him healthy, this is a serious loss for next year. And what's worse, an unnecessary one.

He was not faster than Daniels.

He was not more elusive than Daniels.

He was definitely a better receiver, and also a better pass protector.

You cannot compare YPC when the vast majority of Mitchell's carries came against 2nd units.

I think he would have had an important role on the team next year. That said, I think there are other players on the roster capable of providing what he would have.

I agree with this part for sure. When it comes to comparing RBs the situational touches they got were always so different. It was usually a 3rd and long hence a softer defense Mitchell was seeing or it was garbage time. Not even close to the kind of touches Daniels got for the most part. Daniels often got most of the short yardage touches that would really skew his stats one way. That's not even factoring in the pure volume of touches. YPC can be an interesting stat but not an end all be all one. Wadleys crazy high avg would drop considerably if he were to take on 10 more touches a game including the short yardage situational ones.. It's the nature of the game itself...
