Depth-Chart for Miami

Other notes:

-Sleep-Dalton wins the punting job

-Petras earns his way onto the 2 line (along with Mansell)

-Merriweather maintains his starting safety spot

-13 redshirt freshman on the two deeps. That 2018 recruiting class (which also includes sophomores Brents, Merriweather, and Moss) has a chance to be very special.

The Paulsons in the house. There are a long line of 5th year senior OL in Iowa history that have huge senior seasons. I'm hoping those two step up and have special years.

Drew Cook...#2 TE.

Oliver Martin...in NCAA limbo.

I am just curious for those in the know. If we new the status of Martin would that impact the depth chart. Has he surpassed the guys listed?

Good question kameltoez...I'm sure he will line up somewhere in the slot, if he does get the go ahead to play.

Yes...he's on the two deep if the NCAA let's him play.

My guess is all 4 WRs that are listed above are going to play. If Martin gets eligible he will join the rotation with all 5 still playing. Martin should be able to play both the slot and on the outside some. I think we will run a lot of 3 WR stuff this year actually so these guys will get chances. I’m definitely not in the know though...

I don't get the RB list.

Is IKM back on the 2 deeps? Just days after announcing that Young and Sargent had separated themselves from the pack? A little confused. Not that it matters. The coaches probably will be playing 4 or 5 RB's vs Miami.

Dillion Doyle could be the next Chad Greenway. I thought for sure Beyer would be second string TE. Looking forward to seeing John Waggoner at DE

He's not at the Cash, he's the LEO in the 4-3 look.

DJ Johnson is the Cash.
The more interesting story there is if it would actually be Wade or Niemann in a 4-3 package at the Leo. Niemann showed some promise last year but maybe Wade had really come on.

I think the coaches and team are going to have to prepare thinking they are not going to have him at this point. If he is declared eligible than that would be a bonus. But, they really don't need him that very first game anyway so not a big deal if they don't know by then.

He's the 3rd RB but I think the coaches put "or" for some positions and out of respect for some players.

In this case they didn’t even put or, he’s simply the 3rd RB. Now RB is one of the few positions they listed 3 guys which was probably out of respect to IKM. He’s going to get carries I’d imagine.

Petras is Nate Stanley's heir apparent. They do not want to say that right now, and I do not blame them, but if you put a gun to KF's head, I bet he would name Petras. If he has pulled at least even now, that means he is still ascending. I love Mansell's over all game and skillset, but I think he has a lower ceiling. Petras has an NFL arm and body.

Is there anything to be read in that Petras is listed first? Its not alphabetical or by seniority?
