Iowa Football D-End Accepting More Responsibility as Junior
I hope you're right. I think the D-Line can be equal or better than last year and same with the D-Backs. Where I think there could be a slight drop off is at LB. Not because this year's guys aren't competent or even quite good. It's just that Jack Campbell was a once in a generation player at the position and Seth Benson was high quality with loads of experience too. All in all, if we can somehow be as good as last year, I'd be thrilled.I am really excited to see how he does this year. I've been a big fan of him the past couple years. I think he could be a huge disrupt er on this years D. I think this years D could be just as good as last years, with a slight chance they could be even a little better.
LB is for sure the variable that is least known. But, I suspect we play a lot of cash and that kid from Virginia has a lot of quality starts under his belt. Iowa's defense has suffered when its DL was young or not up to snuff. It has done pretty well with young LBs as long as its got a ferocious DL in front of it.

Agreed. If the LBs had just held up their end of the bargain in 2007, then KOK's JC led offense would not have ranked 110th in total offense. Stupid weakass LBs. Was that the year that JC should have been a Heisman finalist? Stupid blind Heisman voters. It was like watching Steve Young work back there. Work of art.I still have nightmares about the 2006 and 2010 LBs. We had stellar offenses those years and Norm's defenses just weren't up to snuff with new LBs those years. Klink and Humpal got destroyed against Ohio in 2006. Tedd Ginn and Anthony Gonzalez were wide open all day when they were in the slot with a LB on them. Ugh. And in 2010 Clayborn spent half the season trying to play LB in addition to his contain and rushing duties. Total letdown seasons all around due to the defense. Phil seems to have shored those issues up, though.
It was abstract art where nothing connected.Agreed. If the LBs had just held up their end of the bargain in 2007, then KOK's JC led offense would not have ranked 110th in total offense. I saw him on a moped the other day. He'll be starting by midseason.
