If you want to get serious about deep runs in the NCAA tournament, you better play defense.

Fran needs a major overhaul of his assistant coaches. Fran may not be a great coach, but those two games he was suspended the team looked beyond terrible and his assistants looked clueless. They obviously aren't helping with defense and recruiting so why are they there??

I guess this makes the loss of Dailey HUGE, as he is arguably our best defender at the all-important “point” of defense.

Kinda like when our best defending guard transferred right before the season a couple years ago (and we had arguably our WORST season in HISTORY, with WORST defense in P6). What was his name??

This feels like a captain obvious segment. The saying Defense wins championships is not new.

Iowa could not compete at Elite Eight level with these teams. Too inconsistent, too disjointed, not athletic, coaching lacking, etc. This level is above Frans head.

THIS. Fran's teams...even his better ones...always look spastic and without any offensive continuity. Look at how confident and rhythmic these teams are

Carson Edwards is out of his mind... Wow

What a great college basketball game! Both more than solid at both ends and in schemes.

Disagree w/ above who says you need athletes to play defense - you do need a couple, especially at the rim.
Neither of these teams are all crazy athletes like LSU or Oregon - but their Defense is reliable - that's what Iowa needs is Reliable Defense
