Yeah, Brands for going out on the mat at the end of Montell's 3rd place match after having being warned earlier in the tournament and Montell throwing his headgear

PSU's Long threw his headgear in his semi final match. I never heard if they deducted PSU a point or not.

It kind of depends where you throw it and the emphysis, plus the ref was already ****** about Brands out on the mat.
But lets be real - keep the head gear on, get off the mat, then pout.
I want our guys to do well, but lets show some character also.

The last three matches MM had went down to the last second or two. He won the first one in probably the most exciting match of the tourney. The last two matches he lost. After losing the third place match he threw his head gear. Brands was removed from the mat twice arguing with the ref over losing a point. The announcer said one team point was deducted for throwing the head gear and one point for control of the mat - third offence. Fortunately it didn't cost us third place.

David Thorn threw his head gear after Ramos beat him, and he never lost a point.

Yeah seems to be refs have a beef with Iowa also with the calls going against Iowa and getting hosed with deductions while other teams didn't get them for doing same old crap.

I think that was the only points that were deducted from team scores

-1 Montell Marion - throwing headgear
-1 Tom Brands - Telling the ref if screwed up on the restart
-14 Joe LeBlanc - Did not make weight Saturday morning

Not getting the calls is nothing new for Iowa wrestling and will never be an excuse for losing as long as Tom Brands is our coach. There is alot of different things the young men could of done to put these matches out of reach.
