Stupid stupid decision. Should have called a TO to settle his team and set a play. Not to mention have his guys dribble off 10 seconds at the top of the 3 point line???? You only needed something inside?!?!?!

Yep, one left. He definately should have called it when Taylor had nothing going at the 5 or 6 second mark. Terrible coaching. It was pretty much like they were looking for a foul call.

Purdue did it twice at the end of their game and now wispy too. Somebody needs to coach these kids that you can't wait until there is 7 seconds left to try and score. Cost purdue and now wisky.

I'm a fan off no timeout if you are in a scramble, liveball situation after a missed shot/free-throw. But once the ball went out of bounds and allowed Syracuse to get back and set its defense, might as well advance the ball to half court and call a timeout to set something up.

I was taught by all the basketball coaches at my middle school and high school that waiting until 7 seconds was the right thing to do. It gives your primary scorer a chance to win the game and if he misses you have time for an offensive rebound and a put back. I've always thought the people that taught me that were wrong, and I think Purdue and Wisconsin are proving why. The "7 second rule" works in the NBA for a few teams, but it rarely works for anyone else.

I was taught that it was a 10 second rule. You always want your scorer to make the move at 10, especially at the college or lower level. It gives the offense a chance at the put back and if you do score the time is very limited for the other team to go the length of the court. This obviously doesnt work in NBA as you can move the ball to half court after a timeout.

Even KOK could have draw up a play to score and win with 15 sec and a timeout left!! And that's saying a lot because he was a horrible play caller when it came to scoring

Purdue's shot was too early and they didn't need a three. Wisconsin's was too crappy.
When the other team is materially more athletic than you, you don't want them to have more than 3 seconds on the clock. Simple as that. You make the last shot, game over, you win. You miss it, game over, you lost. The athleticism gaps between Purdue and KU or Wisky and 'Cuse are big and a good team can score in under 4 seconds. Play for the win but don't rely on a 28 foot prayer.

I think the main thing is that you want to get a good shot late in the game. Running time off limits your opportunity for a good shot, so teams that struggle to find good shots quickly (a regular issue for Wisconsin) should start sooner. If you have a player or two that can get open for a good shot in a hurry, waiting works. But waiting simply for the sake of waiting is a terrible idea if that greatly diminishes your team's ability to create a good shot.

While I agree it was a horrible possession, it really wasn't all that different than most of their second half possessions.....pass the ball around the 3 point line and settle for a long three pointer. For most of the second half, it worked. Live by the 3, die by the 3.

Bo is just so hard to root for.
He's a dirty recruiter and his on-court demeanor is ridiculous. I understand Fran is a bit over-the-top on his antics, too. But Bo whines about EVERYTHING. And especially calls that aren't even close. Just shut your mouth, dude.

I agree with this. There was a time when I didn't mind Wisconsin too much. Now, with Bielema and Bo Ryan as their two major coaches, they are very, very easy to hate. They have definitely become my least favorite school in the conference.

What game were you watching? They destroyed that zone until late in the game. Great execution, great passes, and nailed the open 3. They lost by 1 point to the number 1 seed for Christ's sake. I really don't understand the Bo hatred. They lost to a better team but it wasn't the coaching.

That's the point, both teams waited too long to start their move and ended up with horrible shot selections. A desperation three when you only need two for the win is pathetic.
