Dale Jones Factor

I think Dale Jones could be a real key to the team this year. Iowa has a nice group of guys but will be just a bit smaller this year with the absence of Olaseni. Iowa also is without White so the key will be with the success of the new wings coming in. I think Dale Jones coming to Iowa from Tyler will be huge to this team as he will bring quality experience with him. Tyler is a very successful junior college and annually ranked quite high.

He has the size & experience where I think he can transition to fill White's void quite well as the others gain experience.

He's a big Xfactor going in cause nobody knows how he'll fit. His size and skillset say he should play a pretty big role. At this point we don't know for sure if he's even going to start (I think he will end up starting if he isn't day 1) totally agree with you that with losing Gabe and AW that's pretty much his mins. But to what extent might he share those with Uhl or will Fran play small and have Uthoff play the 4 along side Woody and have 3 wings MG, Sapp and Jok. Fran has some flexibility with the lineup and it'll be interesting to see what he chooses to do. Depends how they all look obviously

Life is like a box of chocolates...... You never know what your going to get.......

You can even buy the most expensive chocolates and not like them.......see Chicago Bears quarterback.

Not expecting much from Jones. We don't have to go very far back to be reminded the transition to D1 ball in a major conference is a big step to take.

I hope you guys are right and DJ steps up a stretch forward and a key member for this team. Unfortunately, from what I've seen in highlights from Tyler and PTL I just don't see it.

He seems a little mechanical and struggles to use his size under the hoop. As has been previously noted on this board, the Juco level doesn't always transfer to the high D1 level. Its still nice to be able to bring shooters off the bench and I think Dale will have a role on this team.

Again I hope I'm wrong on this and hope Dale is a great player for us this year. Just my thoughts.

That's assuming that Fran won't be able to coach him up some. Isn't that what Fran's there to do?

Another Dale Jones is a good ball handler in Iowa

In 1981, I attended the National Juggling Championships in Cleveland. Dale Jones came in seventh. He was the only competitor without a drop. The amazing thing is that he in a one-handed juggler (actually his severely injured right hand is pretty useless)! I hope the 2015-16 Iowa version of Dale Jones is as good a ball handler as the juggler version.

If true, this is the best story I've ever read on this website.

Agreed, I expect to see him a lot against garbage teams and in trash time working on his D. If he can just not be a liability on defense his offense will be a big help.

I sure would like to see Fran play DJ and the young pups a lot this non con. With 4 SR's, you'd have to think their chemistry is already there (along with Jok & Uhl.) We need to develop a rotation that can hang in the B1G. I think Wagner, Fleming and Ellingson need to show they can hang. We need shooters and a post defender off the bench.

I like the song at the end, this guy should help each player write a song about themselves and post them online.

Just because one Juco player wasn't good enough to play his first year at a position where we already had depth doesn't mean all Jucos are going to struggle their first year. Dale is a different player with a different mindset coming in to play a position of need. I think he's going to be pretty good thos year.

Dale has even said that he's working on his "D", and that's fine w/me, I like his confidence when it comes to scoring, so I think he will fit a certain role and contribute, can't wait...
