Daily Iowan's Article today on the Iowa Band

I posted in one of the other threads but the short version is ...
Thanks.

I did see that, actually. And I saw the pc's this week. But, I was really just looking for the "ground floor" opinions at this point. Are Corey, Nathan (OP) or any other band members or others posting further complaints, or more info? Or they've been satisfied, moved on (voluntarily or not)?

Probably because it’s happened more than just last year. It’s been happening at least 20 years because it happened when I was in school.

They are probably bringing it up now because clearly there are a lot of people unaware that it happens every time. A lot of people are shocked and appalled, and they probably should be.

Again though, find the people involved through the proper channels and put them in jail.

What happens every time? Verbal Abuse? I am sure it does. Broken bones? Smashed Windshields? Bruises? Don't think so.

I have witnessed verbal abuse at Iowa games from Iowa fans.. It made me ashamed. It would be nice to hear from ANY CYCLONE that they were ashamed and embarrassed by the behavior of fans. (instead of the "happens there too, bullshit)

This game and what surrounds it has gotten so ugly that it really should end.

Every now and then a local paper in a Big big city interviews players and asks them the toughest place to play. Kinnick is always number 1 because of how obnoxious the fans are with words and throwing things. They mention how close the fans are and sometimes say it's even grandma's hurling words and objects.

Iowa is the state that gives the nation Steve King.

Uh...I call B.S. on the "hurling objects". I have friends who've been behind the opposing bench for 20 years. Plenty of verbal challenges (most clever rather than profane), but fans don't throw things at the opposing team. They'd be out in a second if they did. That area is always under observation.

Just saying what the paper reported from players. It probably does happen some. The never said anyone gets hurt.

NP. But there's another modern twist to journalism. Reporting "he said" or "they said" instead of actual events. I'm sure at some point, somebody tossed something. But it's false to say it happens with any regularity in Kinnick.
