Daily Iowan Opinion

The reporter is a 2nd year journalism major. Give him a few years and he will figure out Iowa football. Maybe. I have been watching for 50 years and I am not sure I have it figured out yet.

The question is - How much does that piece reflect the student body? Possibly it does a lot. In any event this needed to be said whether you agree or not. We have put up some good records but an inept offense is not Iowa football.

Wow!

I see the writer plucked the low hanging fruit of Curt Cignetti at Indiana starting 10-0 in his first year as an example. He also conveniently omitted (or more likely didn't bother to research) that this is an extremely rare occurrence, especially at a non-blue blood school.

On the contrary . History shows that inept offense IS Iowa football

That was like reading a book report that had to be 2 pages long and the author desperately tried to put together sentences to meet the requirement. While I can agree with the premise and wish Ferentz would realize a running QB would fit his system far better for the last 20 years (every great year was a relatively speaking mobile QB) I would ask for a better write-up

I'd almost bet the farm that writer is 25 or under. To bring up IUs season as the main comparison is irrational and illogical. That's a once in a lifetime thing nobody saw coming. You can't point to that and say go do that it's just that easy. I get it though a young adult who's mostly only seen the BF era of football for Iowa is probably frustrated to the Nth degree. And in todays short memory what have you done for me lately society it's not even surprising. It's just lacking a whole lot of context.
