Dace's Remarks about our "White" running back?

Talking past each other. And I mostly don't care. The main point is, he can say it, I can't. I'm not offended, or angry about that. It just is what it is.

Jon, I think this is one of those situations where you personally know the guy so you give him the benefit of the doubt. No one else on here knows him, so they are not so willing to do that. Especially if they already dislike him as you previously mentioned. He's earned a long leash with you and a short one with others. I've honestly never listened to him, so I've got no comment either way. Just wanted to point out the above.

Word to your mother! I'm out!

Without knowing who you are I dont think you can prove a point. We know who Diesel is we know who deace is but we dont know who you are what you do why you would be interviewed. Youre saying deace can say what he said and get away with it because he is media but as compared to what/who.

Which is one of the reasons why I step in to these topics, because I do know him; I know him well. I've always been 'that guy' and always will be and make no apologies.

Compared to almost anyone. In business. In politics. At a cocktail party. Most of us can't say things like this and get away with it. Maybe you can. I can't. It would be a good poll question. "At your place of work, is it advisable to start a conversation that involves race, religion and athletes?" Yes or No.

WOW... This article brought back a memory. The one time in my life I actually wrote a letter complaining about racism by a writer and it was Jamele Hill when she was complaining about Brett Favre as a Jet when he was dealing with that woman. The article was horribly racist. She took it to extremes.

Where deucer crossed the line was when he brought the young man's religion into the conversation, and then proceeded to imply stereotypes ("a Jewish guy at running back?!?"), which veers dangerously close to anti-semitism.
I get that he thinks he's a shock jock, and playing the Jew card in a cocoon like Des Moines clearly gets a reaction, but the dude has no class. The word hack comes to mind.

Yes, looking for that article and it appears to be gone. However, there are many, many Jamele Hill racist examples. This woman does not belong in a public forums. She HATES white people.

When did he bring religion into the conversation? Is Mark Weisman Jewish (I have no idea if he is or isn't and never even considered it until reading this thread) or is it just a name that has a Jewish sound to it? If it's the latter, then isn't that racial stereotyping on your part? Again, this has everything to do with a predisposition to dislike someone than anything that person said.

PS: For the sake of a debate, let's say he is Jewish. How many white Jewish starting tailbacks are there at the FBS level? If the answer is incredibly few (which it likely is), how would stating that fact be anti-Semitic? It wouldn't be, that is your answer. And since he talked about Weisman and Brownlee in the same breath more than once, I think folks can drop the anti-Semitic card right there. He was talking about white running backs.

Does Jason Whitlock hate white people? I've read his stuff on a regular basis since 1996. He plays the race card all the time, but I never sensed he 'hated white people'. I've met and spoken with him on numerous occasions when I lived in KC. Never got that feeling from being around him and I also had friends who worked at 1510 or 810 who worked with him, and none of the ever felt he 'hated white people'. He just played the race card. Playing the race card has worked out quite well for him, too. I think he was just better at it than Hill was.

Strawman.
I'm out now, because somehow, some way, I'll be the one who gets banned out of this.

I work for myself so I go by the old saying "Loose lips sink ships". On the other hand Im really not important enough for anyone to really kick up a fuss if say something stupid.

JD, you're lucky it's Rosh Hashanah or else Springsteen would be all over you right now. Feel free to delete.

Perhaps my hayseed is showing, but my ethnic radar isn't on based on how someone's name looks or sounds. That's nothing more than just a statement of fact as it relates to me. And I hadn't seen the 'Chutzbah Hawk' thread. I usually read threads that attract my attention, and I have no clue what Chutzbah even means, so that thread didn't interest me to look at. I'll ask Deace what he meant. If he was emphasizing Weisman's name as to its sounding Jewish, I will just wish he chose to come right out and state the fact of the paucity of not just white running backs in FBS, but white running backs who are also Jewish in FBS....as his entire point was saying only at Iowa can a guy come out of nowhere like this to run for 100 yards and win...or only at Iowa can you win a Big Ten title with no name white guys at running back. This very well could be me knowing him too well, and not having any sort of radar come on related to what he said because I've not known him to be a racist in the 10+ years I have known him and don't believe that he is.

My problem with Deace (honestly, I have no idea who this guys is) is that he didn't play the game and lord knows you can't truly provide commentary on sports unless you played it at college or professional level. How else can you explain Terry Bradshaw on TV actually talking. He got that job because he was white and won Superbowls. Deace just has no credibility and he's just a slow white dude with poor vocabulary who wouldn't know what direction to put the sack on his jock. If you don't care what he says, why would you care if he's racist.
