D coordinator happenings?

Norm could easily run exotics blitzes and man-man bump coverage if that's what KF wanted. Norm runs what KF wants. If Stoops wants to comes here, Stoops will run what KF wants.

I disagree here. I think Norm has more autonomy than any other coach or coordinator on staff. I think Norm can run whatever scheme Norm wants to run, he just prefers the standard 4-3 cover two, and for good reason.

Duff, I agree. I also think Norm has much more autonomy than the others.

Not sure what to think of all of this. On one hand, I do think the AD would step up and issue some kind of statement about Norm's continued committment to the team (if he is able). The fact that they haven't, and that there was a presser today, seems fishy.

I don't know much about Stoops as a DC but I have watched him as a HC. He doesn't strike me as a Ferentz kind of guy. In fact he seems like an asshat. Then again, Ferentz did make a point of stating publically that he planned to call Stoops after he was fired and even then that seemed a bit of a pointed comment.

As for adding Stoops to the mix, I wonder how he'd do with Coach K. He's a firey guy as well and I have to wonder how they'd work together. It'll be really interesting to see how this all unfolds and, if it happens, it opens up all kinds of crazy scenerios once KF chooses to retire.

We have not had a thread run like this in a long time--- maybe BW leaving camp thread/rumor..? Amazing. Oh, and that turned out to be true, too.

I have no problem with Stoops being a DC for the Hawks. He was certainly good at that position before. I'm just not sure he can find the speed here that he had at okie.

just sayin, it might take a while to get things squared away/ recruited..

But I vote yes, assuming Norm is stepping down because of his health.

KF had to step in to get the D Line to stop rolling over in the last game. Pretty sure coach K's feelings are not KF's primary concern right now.

Yeah, he's pretty much unimpressive as a HC. I'll be shocked and probably disappointed if there's really anything to this.

Was this talked about on TV or were you at the game? You've mentioned this a couple times now, so I don't know if it was something obvious during the broadcast that I missed or if you were there and witnessed it.

Either way, I agree with your sentiment.

Assuming Ferentz is around to hire the next DC, I would be surprised if they were not named Parker or Wilson. I could see Aiken getting a call if KF thinks there would be some interest in returning. But I don't see him going outside for the hire.

They said it on the broadcast. I took it with a grain of salt figuring Kirk just went over there to talk to them. Would like to know if anyone saw it

I've seen Ferentz go ballistic on the O-line in the middle of a game. Back when Brian Ferentz was playing. Lots of spit flying.

Yeah, we have heard this about him and the Oline. But not another unit.

Basically, the sideline reporter said he had a heated exchange with the DLine in which he accused them of sleepwalking "out there."

Then they went out and had 2 TFL's and a 3 and out.

Just can't see how that bodes well for the position coach who needs the head coach to come in to motivate his players.

Really makes you wonder even more about the departures along the front. I'm not suggesting we get rid of Coach K or anything like that. It's just an interesting bit of information that could possibly be related.

I really hope that is not true... KF should not have to do that. The D-Line should be motivated as it is and if they aren't their position coach should be taking care of that.

Count me in as excited. We need some new blood on the defensive side of the ball. On top of that we get a defensive coordinator who can actually go out and recruit... Something Norm won't/can't do. I think it's a win win for us.

Craig T! That is NOT what I heard. But I haven't watched a replay so I could have heard incorrectly.

If someone has it DVR'd it would be nice to know who has it right. It was an audio thread I believe right around the time the D line woke up.

You have to understand that on this site it will always be that way. If I said I was 100% certain that tomorrow is Wednesday someone will argue with me about it.

It appears for the first time you are right about something.;) Today is Wednesday.
