Ryno maybe. Only because he's in the system. Nobody else in their right mind would want that mess right now. Management needs to have a clearance sale first. Unfortunately they promised too many guys too much too early.
Ditka! It's not that big of a mess. They do have some bad contracts, but since there's no salary cap and the Cubs are one of the top revenue producing teams each year so they can afford to eat one or two of those deals. They have solid starting pitching, and a decent core of young guys (Castro, Soto, Cashner, Colvin). Plus if you're the manager who finally wins the world series for Chi, you're a god. You would own that city and make your career.
Hendry will be back. It was announced today. Hendry is looking for the new manager.Mike Quade, third base coach, is a darkhorse candidate. He managed AAA Iowa earlier and was highly regarded for his baseball knowledge and relationship skills.
If Hendry stays (we all have our opinions), Quade has a real shot.
Sandberg certainly is a popular candidate, but if he's only a good manager and not a great one, how do you fire an icon???
Good. I say give Ryno a shot, he'd be the fan favorite anyway
As a rabid Cardinal fan, I do poke fun at the Cubs often.
But I will give you guys props....your last two managers seemed to have made sense. Both had excellent track records.
But as the saying goes, forcing out the manager (which is exactly what I think is happening here) is merely rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Just FYI....the following URL is all of Cub's historical managers.

I love the fact that Ryno wants the job. It will be an interesting process to see what Henry does here. If Ryno is not selected, I wonder if other teams would go after him in the future. He is 50 years old (turns 51 on September 18).Ryno says that he is ready for the Cubs' job.

S-P-I-NNever mind that this is the last year of Lou's contract, and that he said when he was hired that this would be his last job.
I don't think it is spin, but I can see where someone would think so. Lou is 67 and looks ready to be done.S-P-I-N
