Xavier has been on a bit of a turnaround. RPI is in top 60. Obviously former Hawkeyes Dix & Freeman play for Creighton. May be something to tune into.

Josh Dix played 23 minutes, scored 9 points on 3-4 from 3, 5 boards and 3 assists. Not too bad.
Owen Freeman has been relegated to the bench and only played 14 minutes, scored 8 points on 4-5 shooting, also 5 boards, 3 assists, and 3 blocks. Not bad for 14 minutes.

Freeman seems to be in the dog house. Some of his minutes were garbage minutes too. Its funny because Mac and Fran play a very similar brand of ball in that they don't value D and want to get the ball up and down the court. But, they always want their big to be able to protect the rim at least, and Freeman doesn't do that very well.
Dix is playing well. He is just a baller. Would thrive anywhere.
I think this is a reflection that X is pretty bad, not that Creighton is all that good.

I watched the beginning of the game and wondered who X had beaten to win five in a row. I just chedked it out.
Aftre losing to us they also lost to Georgia, no surprise there.
Then they beat:

Cincinnati
Missouri St

Creighton isn’t very good, and they are playing Dix out of position. He isn’t a full-time point guard. He is a 2 guard that should be hunting for buckets on offense. The most he should be playing point is about 5-7 minutes a game.
As @NorthKCHawk noted about the rim protector… Kalkbrenner was the Big East DPOY for like 10 straight years, and Freeman ain’t that dude. And they badly miscalculated if they thought he was.

Maybe the reason we all thought Freeman was a thing at Iowa is because he looked the most athletic on the Iowa team. He was active around the rim & a rim protector. He goes to Creighton and plays in the BIG East and now looks like any other player size and athletic wise. Not the stud he was at Iowa. Prolly and indictment on the recruiting Fran did at Iowa, getting pasty long wing shooters who weren't that athletic which ended up being an issue.

Just my opinion as I was never around to see how they practiced but my impression of Freeman after his freshman year was he got lazy. Coming into the sophomore year he put on some bad weight and he could carry it very well and I don't think he wanted to work all that hard to get into shape hence his "injury". Looking at his play style I just don't he had a good work ethic and that is very difficult to overcome especially at the upper D1 level of basketball as you will continually get exposed.
