Crawford to Return to NU Next Season

Drew Crawford will finish his eligibility at Northwestern. For as great as the B1G was this year, the bottom third was pretty awful. I think the B1G will be better next year top to bottom. PSU and NU could be good.

Drew Crawford to finish career at Northwestern - ESPN

Northwestern lost Marcotullio (5.2 ppg), Hearn (13.4) and Swopshire (9.7). They also lost Carmody and their gimmick offense. Throw in the loss of their best incoming recruit and Northwestern looks to be about the same caliber of team next year IMO...trying to avoid the cellar. Penn State is another story. If Frazier is able to return to his old form they will move up the standings...but will still have a tough time getting higher than 8th.

They get Crawford back along with Jershon Cobb, who played pretty well as a freshman. Cobb sat out this past year for an academic issue.

With Sobolewski, Crawford, Cobb and Olah, the Wildcats have a pretty solid nucleus.

I agree. They won't be any easy out for most teams. That said, still I don't see Northwestern being any where but in the bottom 3rd of the league.

I do like the fact that Crawford chose to remain with his school. Him staying keeps Northwestern competitive within the league.

I agree, while Northwestern will compete for the bottom of the Big Ten and there is a little step back in talent at the top overall the Big Ten will be better from top to bottom next season. Penn State, Northwestern, and Nebraska all should be improved next season.

I still think they are in the bottom 3rd as well. They will be better next year though than this past year. Minny might be battling Nebby for the cellar, IMO. Assuming Payne stays, here is my stab at the B1G:

1-MSU
2-Michigan
3-OSU
4-Iowa
5-Wisky
6-Purdue
7-Indiana
8-PSU
9-Illinois
10- NU
11- Minny
12- Nebby

Agree. Hard to say what kind of team they will have. With a new coach and new system who knows what will happen with the mildcats?
