Cowherd: Oregon to offer Izzo 3.5 million per year

I too doubt that Izzo will go anywhere. He has an established program in the State that he is from. I am not sure what kind of money that he pulls down in a year, but yes, this Oregon interest, may add some change to his bank account.

ESPN is reporting that Izzo is saying that Oregon has not been in contact with him, which you knew that he would say, especially with his team in the Final Four.

I watched something on HBO this weekend, Izzo has lived outside of Michigan something like 10 months of his entire life. I would be shocked if he left Michigan State, regardless of how much the University of Nike (oops, Oregon) offers him.

I believe the offer, but don't think there is anyway Izzo leaves MSU. He already makes the final four every other year, and has a truckload of money. He seems like a Big 10 lifer to me.

Money talks though. Many think that men his age with as much money already don't still think about it, sometimes we start to think of how many others in our family could benefit or the life our direct ties could lead with more money....plus, oregon is much nicer this time of year then Michigan. 3.2 Million more then you make now plus warm weather....."excuse me flow......what's the soup de'jour?

I'd be shocked if Izzo went to Oregon. $3.5 is great money, but Izzo seems like a midwest type of guy and not the type to jump to the next best thing. Plus, I'm sure Izzo is treated like a GOD in the state of Michigan. He's got it made.

How many Final Fours has he taken them to, by the way? It's got to be 6 or 7 by now. That's unreal.

what is Izzo's salary now at MSU?

Not entirely certain, but I thought I saw a list post recently, and Izzo was in there somewhere around $1.7 or $1.8 million I thought. It would be a nice payday for him to be sure, but I still would be surprised to see him leave MSU for Oregon. He's been there so long, that is HIS program. He's the dean of Big Ten coaches. I'm sure he probably could have left for more money several years ago, either NBA or another college program.

I don't see Izzo leaving MSU. That would be a huge blow as he is the face of that university and for that matter Big Ten basketball.

I agree with the guys who have said he is the best coach in college basketball. And I don't even think it is close. And he does it the right way.

They just announced on ESPN that Oregon was going to offer him the largest contract in the country....looks like Cowherd might have been right on this one.

Please....Cowpie works for ESPN, he or they wouldn't contradict each other.

I don't know... maybe he does leave. Maybe he is fed up with how poorly the other BT institutions treat their coaches and fire them after unrealistic expectations. I mean look at what Iowa did with Alford and Lick, Minnesota with Monson, and Michigan with Amaker, and others. Maybe he wants to get out of the BT where all anyone cares about is the bottom line and challenging for titles. ;)
