Couple Good QBs

in Rudock and Beatherd. Impressed by Rudocks accuracy and decision-making. CJ has a great arm and release. Liked the way he carries himself. Seem to be solid at the position for the foreseeable future. WRs need to continue to improve and at least make the catches that hit them directly in the hands.

Im glad we got to see Beatherd today. If we ever need him it looks like he will be ready. Lets not forget though that he saw mostly 2nd string WM defense today. Still looked very good.

Feel great about our future at this position. And Daniels has great potential as we'll so feel good about our backfield in general for a while or at least have some building blocks and can work on adding depth.

And according to hwk23 neither is as good as sokol because of his spring game and open practice/scrimmage ypa numbers. So I guess we would be seeing an even better season so far if kf didn't bury him behind those two.

Love both of them. Have always liked beatherd a bit more and think he has a bigger upside so I hope he sticks around.

I'm just wondering why Malloy/Hill didn't get any carries. In a blowout like this I thought maybe they might appear.

Buried on the depth chart, and I'd rather give our top 4 reps than waste them on guys that will only get carries due to major injuries to our top 4. And our top 4 all return next yr.

Both QBs looked pretty good that's for sure. But hard to grade em too high in a game like this. The TD Rudock made to Hillyer was right on time and he had some mustard on the deeper one to Powell. The deep ball Beathard threw was a thing of beauty. I hope he don't decide to transfer either cause having 2 good qbs could be pretty big deal going forward. It seems like if a kid gets a taste of playing time and some success they would rather play then be a backup. Can't blame em but we'll see if he and Sokol for that matter decide to stay.

Sokol will only have one more year to play after this one right? He'll have to find the perfect spot if it is what he decides to do. If he decides to leave I won't get bent out of shape about. I'd love Beathard to backup Rudock going forward. Rudock has a really good feel for the pocket and he's sneaky athletic. I think with more snaps and games behind him he'll be really really good. He's a smart kid and if he can have a couple receivers step up and be reliable I think the sky is the limit for him

I was watching the warm ups, idk who #9 is but his delivery reminded me a lot of stanzi. Rudock was throwing the best passes though, so I'm happy w him in there, glad we won't be the only team in the country to play 1 QB all season this year tho

I think Sokol is out of options (other than FCS??) because he redshirted last season. He's likely to finish at Iowa.

With Beathard, I can definitely see his potential. I see Beathard fitting the G.D. offensive philosophy when he had running qb's at Texas, more than Rudock and I see Rudock fitting the pro style better, at this point. Rudock can definitely scramble more than adequately. Rudock is effective as a scrambler, where Beathard looks to allow for actual running plays at the qb position.

If Beathard fails to take the 1 spot from Rudock, then he could transfer. If that were to happen, which I hope it doesn't, then I would hope that Nic Shimonek is at least as good/has as much potential as both Rudock and Beathard. I see Shimonek as having huge potential.

With me being from TN I was very excited to see Beatherd get the chance to play today. I watched him in high school and he was a very good QB. Never did understand why he wasn't recruited harder but I was very happy when he commited to Iowa since that is my favorite team. GO HAWKS!

CJ looked good. If Shimonek is the real thing...qb looks solid(with depth) for a bit. Haven't had that in a while...
