Couldn't help thinking...

when Uhl and Baer were going 1-10 from three against UNI, how many of those minutes would Dale Jones have gotten and how many threes he would have made. Uhl and Baer were getting open looks and couldn't find the range in their 48 minutes. Jones probably gets 15 of those minutes...and it just puts another very good 3 point shooter on the floor. Fran's got serious weapons on the offensive end if Jones shoots like he can. Bohannon, Moss, Jok, and Jones can flat out shoot it. At this point, Baer's not going to get fewer minutes, but Uhl and Wagner probably will.

I love Baer - but IMO - he hunts for 3 point shots A LOT - and seemingly rarely makes them especially when he takes it early in the clock - but when he's more in the flow of the offense and the ball gets swung around more - he sometimes makes those... rarely makes the open one at the beginning of the shot clock but LOVES that shot.

Fran mentioned in the post game that Uhl had a great game defensively. Obviously Baer was really active and played well.

Remember this team isn't lacking for offense. Defense is the most important thing and from all accounts that's where Dale Jones struggles.

Offensively, I think Cook's impact will be much stronger as to me he is a legit second option that can take pressure off Jok. He clearly needs to pick it up defensively but he has the strength and athleticism to do so.

I think this team has plenty of shooters, and hey Uhl and Baer can only go up from here with their shooting. I do think Jones does deserve some minutes when he returns, but it will be interesting to see how it shakes out. We are 9 deep right now, with a "starter" returning and another player returning, someone is going to lose minutes.

Uhl has been a lot more active lately. I was afraid he mentally checked out but that doesn't seem to be the case.

When he's making them in the flow of the offense, his feet are set and he's on balance. When he takes them earlier in the shot clock, he tends to rush them and his feet are off or he's leaning one way or another.

Yea, I was wondering if he was going to end up being the odd man out as the season progressed, minutes-wise, but he seems to have played himself back in.

That could be an effect of having many quality players, puts the competition on and he can see he'll be replaced if he doesn't step it up?
Lots of good points on these bball threads lately. Fran has lots of options and will have his work cut out for him keeping everyone happy. The opponent should dictate what we do lineup wise hopefully a lot of nights.

Iowa is a hard guard. It's a luxury to be able to plug someone else in if another player is having an off night. Long gone are the Lickliter years that if Gatens is having an off night, the team is screwed. Fran's done a great job of building this team with athletic shooters. Yes, the challenge if finding minutes for everyone while having somewhat of a rotation. I could see different line-ups this season depending on teams they are playing.

This may be the best way to appease some players by occasionally giving starts as a team need due to opponent.

Baer is a better shooter than he's shown lately I think. He'll have better shooting games. Uhl I'm not so sure about with his funky shot I'm just not sure how consistent he can be. I think he could make 3 in a row and yet miss 10 in a row pretty easily too. I think I've given up on the what if game with Jones. That poor guy just can't stay healthy.
