Could This Be The Reason Why Beathard Starts?

I'm wondering if he's starting because he's from Tennessee and they are going up against TN. Maybe he gets the 1st series or two then Rudock comes in. It just dawned on me.

He is not going to start. The only way he will even play is if Rudock gets hurt or Iowa is way ahead/behind in the 4th quarter (mop up duty).

Rudock will start because he's from Florida and the game is being played in Florida which is in the eastern time zone. Plus its on January 2nd which is an even date at 3:30 EASTERN TIME.

I know its unusual to have a farewell game for a redshirt sophomore quarterback, but this could be the last time we get to see Beathard in a Hawkeye uniform. And wearing a Hawkeye uniform is the only thing we are going to get to see him do at the Gator Bowl.

Kirk- "(snort) I guess I hadnt thought of that(looks back and forth) Is that where CJ is from? (snort chuckle) You guys would know more about that than me....Jake is from Florida I do know that in fact his address is ...."

Was Beathard honored with the seniors on Senior Day? The kids who won't get to play at Kinnick as Hawkeyes again? Wouldn't that be a clue that he was done with Iowa?

If Beathard starts, it's either Barta driven who has to be feeling his own pressure, or KF knows he may transfer and suddenly feels pressure to give the appearance that the position is now wide open for competition. That way if he does leave, KF can say, "Hey, Beathard knew it was up for grabs but still chose to leave"....if Beathard doesn't get a start and leaves, all hell breaks loose and KF looks even more incompetent than he's already proven himself to be.

you can not seriously believe that Barta is in any way going to tell KF who to play

No....but I do believe that Barta is now telling KF that SOMETHING needs to be done to bring back interest in the program....CJ starting may be the result of Barta telling him that. No way Barta can continue taking a hands off approach with KF....he knows that if things don't turn around fast, they both will be gone....especially in light of the mess he currently has with plaidshirtgate.

After watching this dumpster fire of a season, I believe there is zero chance that CJ will start. This was a crazy rumor that was started by some yahoo who is famous for starting crazy unfounded rumors with no basis in reality.

I hope I'm wrong and he does start. If that happens I am 100% sure that it has nothing to do with what state he is from.

I just have a hard time believing that Ferentz will give CJ the start for this gm.
As will every other coach including Davis at Tennessee even though some Ferentz apologists say Ferentz said it to force Tennessee to prepare for 2 QBs. I mean, it's laughable that anyone thinks CJB will start. It's so far out of character for KF .. who is obsessive-compulsive.

....Beathard starts:

....Packing his bags
....checking about transfer credits at other schools.
....watching Illinois State in the FCS Championship Game January 10th on ESPN2

The only thing Barta is going to say to KF is "what time are you available for your daily butt kissing, and what cheek should I start with today?"

Watch CJ start and take us on an opening TD drive, then Rudock plays rest of the game and we lose by 2 points.
