Could Stanley be a short yardage specialist in NFL?

This article seems to think so. Stanley's effenciency at running the QB sneak and converting short yardage plays like 4th and 1 could potentially be useful to certain teams.

Me, I am a little doubtful any NFL club would create a roster spot for a QB just to run a 4th and 1 QB sneak, but I have seen them do stranger things

It works in college. Not so much in the NFL, especially when doing so all but screams, "Designated QB sneak coming in 4...3...2...1..."

Nope. Can't be that predictable in the NFL... Might still work sometimes but not all the time like you'd need it to for it to be worth it. He's a legit QB prospect anyway so he'll be on a team for that regardless.
 
Stanly had troubles this past year after losing to 1st round picks to the NFL. Add to that a offensive line that never really got settled until the bowl game.

He has some things the NFL really likes. Size, throws and work ethic. If he gets with the right coach in the NFL he could be a very good quarterback, right now he's a work in progress. My guess is he will go in the 4th round or later. If he's drafted. Iowa hasn't done too well in the quarterback draft.

Look at Martinez, other running QBs in our conference. Martinez missed half the season. NFL guys have 5 or 6 days a week to prep for a game, in college they have a limit. The players aren't nearly as experienced and they don't slide when they should.

The level of talent is much wider range among college teams, so college QBs have a better opportunity to run. In the NFL damn near every linebacker is big and fast as hell and is gonna hurt when hit.

Yes, in the NFL you have boiled down the available defensive tackles to really huge, strong dudes and they could pinch two guys over the center making it very difficult.

yes but you look at guys like Russell Wilson who make it through the season. In the NFL QB's know those guys are fast, the QBs are older they have enough sense to get to the ground or out of bounds when they need too.
