Just answer me this - when was the last time anybody has seen a Top 10 team get screwed by the refs, down the stretch, in a close game against an unranked opponent?
It doesn't happen.
I will give you 7 very questionable calls that changed play:
1. Shot clock violation on MSU that Ray Charles could see....no call
2. Marble fouled on 3 point line....no call
3. Marble called for hook on MSU player
4. McCabe getting drug down the court by his head....no call
5. Nixon travels with the ball...call on Iowa
6. MB gets called for foul as MSU player (not in possession of ball) climbs up his back
7. White gets called on a CLEAN block
So to the retread that says show me 12....how about 7 that all caused point swings and ****ed with the flow of the game. Can Iowa close out? There is no doubt they have their problems, but when you are afraid your going to be called on everything and then get no calls on ANYTHING it screws with the game.
The big 10 should be ashamed of this crew. It was a complete BS....
Don't forget the ally-oop where Payne tried jumping over Basabe and Mel got whistled for a foul. Or the fast break in the 2nd half where Appling lost control of the ball and the refs called a phantom foul.
This. The neutral TV announcers even said "wow" after the no call on Payne and just went silent for a few seconds... not wanting to insult the refs apparently.
We had 19 turnovers because we played a very good very aggressive defensive team. The good thing about playing those teams tho is you get to shoot a bunch of free throws... Oh wait.
I actually thought they were doing a pretty good job. Then Marble got destroyed on a 3pt attempt and it was just like the officials threw a switch and said "Yeah Sparty!"
From that point on, we just got brutally raped by the officials. It was as bad as any game I 've ever seen. Ever.
