Could Hawks go on a 4 Game Losing Streak????

There is a breed of Hawkeye fan I like to refer to as the Vultures....a loss happens and they lose their ever loving mind and go all masochist. 14 years...different screen names, same flawed human trait
This is a pattern Jon. No closer on this team many close calls to good teams. Sounds like last year all over again. You said it yourself. "This team could be dangerous or lose first round in NCAA tourney". Not sure I see the validity in the VULTURES comment when you just went there too?

Lets look at the schedule-
Road: Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan St, Penn St, Indiana
Illinois-not in 20 yrs, Minnesota-rival+revenge, MSU- if healthy, ouch, Penn St- trap often, Indiana-poor history.
How many wins here? 1, 2?

Home: Ohio St, Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois
Ohio St-tough to sweep, Michigan/Wisconsin- road losses, Purdue- trap? Illinois?
How many wins here? 2,3?

So rest of Big 3-7 to 5-5
Total 19-12, 8-10 to 21-10, 10-8.
What seed is that?

3-1 for the next four games, on the way to a 12-6 conference record, which will likely be a tie for third place with Wisky and Ohio St. I have a feeling MSU may win the conference.

12-6 overall

Someone has yet to explain to me what losses that happened 10, 15 or 20 years ago in Champaign have to do with the chances of this years team winning there.

IPA, It's a trend, a very convincing trend. Gamblers look for these types of trends and bet big money depending on the spread of the games. I understand Illinois is a bad team but Assembly Hall (AKA State Farm Center) has been a house of horrors for the Hawk. I think that the Illini always has a very athletic team and Iowa has always fallen short to play well and match their athleticism thus the trend of only one win since 1987. Like you said It shouldn't have any baring on the game but historically speaking the Hawk do struggle at Illinois and the trend is hard to discount.

It means Illinois has been has usually been better than or as good as Iowa and that in those scenarios the home team typically wins.

Yeah Jon..I just don't understand the attitude of the fans on here that are ready to throw in the towel because we didn't win that game. How would they have felt if MSU had kicked our tails by 15 points or more? I am enjoying the ride. I never thought this team was capable of winning the BIG this year. However, Fran has this program on the trajectory to be a major player in the BIG . All I want is Iowa to get in the tourney and see how we do after the toughest BIG schedule of any team. This team has the potential to beat anyone in the country. When was the last time we could say that?

12 regular season and at least one tournament game left... so we could go on a 13 game losing streak. I don't think we'll do that either.

Trolls all over the board after this loss...kind of funny. We lost in OT at home to a top 10 team. Every team that's beaten us this season has been ranked in the top 10 at some point. I want to get it going in mid March...not peak at the end of January. We could go 9-1 with 7-3 the likely basement down the stretch IMO. I also like our chances of winning the BTT. Of course some in this thread don't think we'll even get the Thursday bye...

Getting a Thursday bye isn't a cake walk. Minnesota, Indiana, & Purdue all within 1 conference loss of Iowa and Wisconsin.

I'm not a troll been on this board and the one before for years and have kept the same screen name. I'm tired of seeing this team not finish not have a clutch player that can bring home the win. 0 and 32 in games where Hawks can win or tie with 10 seconds left in the game. That is a pattern this team can be good but it needs someone to step up and take leadership and be the clutch player. All the Hawks big ten wins are by ten or more points. If the Hawks aren't leading by more than 10 after the 4 min mark left in the game they have lost all those games. Some of you need to push away from the koolaid and look at this team. Numbers don't lie.

I didn't say you were...interesting that you felt it was necessary to respond.

Hawk fan Vultures and Trolls have been mentioned in this thread more then once so that is the reason I addressed it. I've been a season ticket holder of football for over ten years. I love the Hawks but this team has been so frustrating to watch the last two years pi$$ing away opportunities to win and when I saw the numbers it really opened my eyes.

I could not agree more. Fact is, we don't have 1 on 1 NBA type players. Marble is the only player who can consistently create his own shot, but you have seen as many game winning shots as i have. Around 0 at the end of a game. I think fran needs to rethink 1 on 1 action in the last 2 minutes. What that would look like, i don't know. I do know and agree that what has been tried has not worked. That is fact, and not trolling. This team has some significant deficiencies that could get them bounced early in any tournament. So do a lot of other teams as well. Thankfully, they have a number of good points as well. I just want to see them back in the NCAA's as does everyone else.
