Cougill ruled academically ineligible

Thank you Wit. I agree that he was not the best fit for Fran's system...And it looks like FM will be repeating his first year at Siena here at Iowa, with no real big guys to turn too...Course, he did take them to the tournament after that first year and really isn't that all we are looking for is the postseason after this year?

McCaffery got a freebie with this one. Cougs wasn't/isn't a division 1 basketball player and to argue that he was is just wishful thinking through black/gold colored glasses. Hopefully McCaffery has someone in mind for the scholly that can contribute this year.

Give him a break? Give me a break! He NEVER showed the commitment needed to be Big Ten athlete. This goes all the way back to when he got his scholly offer and was told to get in better shape. Did he? Ever?

Now we find out he is lazy in his schoolwork too!

Please apologists, get over it and start calling it like it is.

And Please! Don't let him back at Iowa unless he starts to show he cares more about basketball than the buffet.

Wow what a moronic post this is...seriously and you had some good ones but this might be the worse one you have posted.

A little harsh- but there is some truth. Beyond what is happening on the court, the player has the ability to control their education off the court. Rule number one, is NEVER use athletics as an excuse for bad grades.

If you're not performing up to par in the classroom, it's more often than not because you've made the choice not to.
