Cornhuskers trying to recapture the Tom Osborne magic

A couple points...

1) As soon as an Iowa player got investigated and told he’d have to travel back to his home state because of a criminal investigation, he’d be looking for a new school and a new apartment.

2) Are we supposed to believe that this alleged pedo is actually paying for the lawyer that Frost hooked him up with? How hard would it be for Frost to call one of his douche rocket boosters and say, “We need to get $20,000 cash dropped off at MW’s mother’s house for the lawyer...” Not very hard. It’d be done within a half hour. Give us a fuckin break.

3) Like it or not, you can’t err on the side of letting kids play when you know they’re mixed up in some bullshit but don’t have the details. That excuse doesn’t work but it’s the exact excuse Scotty Frost is going to use.

4) None of us should be surprised about this. Frost is a slime ball and learned it from the best. Tom Osdouche made a career out of hiring violent/rapist types to come play football for his squad and invented the Art of Sweeping Under Rugs. Opie...I mean Frost...lived with Larry Phillips for chrissakes, how do you not pick up a few pointers along the way in covering up for sexual assaulters?

Yup.
I could see having the U's lawyer involved, but represent??
It's one thing to give a little advice and help steer someone.
But that's how they will word it and play it off, BUT only because I doubt he is licensed to practice law in the state of California.

I don't know why, outside of maybe morbid curiosity, but I read all 24 pages of that thread today.
What I came away with after reading it all is:
1. Nebby fans are really big on victim shaming
2. They don't want to consider it child pornography because he used to date the girl in 8th grade so that makes it ok
3. They will turn on their own like sharks if another Nebby fan thinks this piece of crap of a human should face more than a few games suspension
4. They have more sympathy for the gutless pile of walking trash than the poor girl whose life was already damn near ruined by the video the first time it showed up and then has to relive it again.
5. The Nebby fans have absolutely no right to.represent the B10 in any fashion.

The last sentence is key. B1G NEEDS to go back to 10 teams. Lose PSU, UNL, MD and Rutgers.

Sad part is their fan base, coaches and school defending such behavior.
Because listen, all laws aside, the dude asked her if she wanted to date, hook up, whatever. She said no.
Instead of dropping it he got pissed and got more aggressive until he sent this video to her. A video he held onto for a long time.
Imagine if he acted like that in text, what he would have been like in person.

But let them defend and let him stay. Because I hope he is worth it. Nebraska's name is being trashed in California and now with every national sports media reporting, all over the nation.
Inaction by the university and all the posts in support of him by the fans is spreading like wild fire.

How certain are we that Iowa could not turn PSU/MSU/Neb-level defensive in a moment?

I would like to think the fan-base as a whole would be above that, and I seem to remember a lot of outrage from fans about Pierre Pierce being defended by Alford. However, that was pre-social media prominence, and it involved a Coach whom many already disliked.

As I said, I would like to think the sum of the Iowa fans would be above such behavior, but I wonder if a small, vocal minority would emerge and make everyone else look bad in a similar situation?

Their would be a small vocal minority, but we as a fanbase have shown in the past we don't tolerate this crap.

I hope so. That brings up an interesting question: that small, vocal minority arises, swamping social media, victim-blaming, conspiracies, the whole 9 yards. What are the rest of us to do? Can enough voices shout them down on twitter to make a difference? You know the most outrageous things would be screen-grabbed and posted on Cyclone Fanatic, Husker whatever, etc.. Those MSU fans that have been all over @RobHowe would eat that stuff up, probably claiming he was spearheading the crazy movement.

Let's hope we have coaches/administrators with enough integrity that it never comes to this.

Oh please. Who is naive enough to believe worse things haven't happened at Iowa other than forwarding a porn video? Where was the outrage when Chris Doyle forced student-athletes to do a workout that landed multiple guys in the hospital, and probably caused at least one young man significant organ damage? The UI's behavior following that incident was disgusting...hiding, denying, refusing to take responsibility. Was Doyle punished? No, instead he was named internal Coach of the Year by KF or something like that. Just sickening. Let's at least be consistent in our criticisms.

There is a difference between a loud party, getting into a cop car thinking it's an Uber and molesting, wife beating and shaming/borderline torturing someone because they don't want to sleep with you.
I think most Iowa fans can reconize the difference. I think our coaches know the difference.
As I said if he acted like that in text what would he have done in person?
Big difference in "let's see how it plays out" between an owi or a loud party then "let's see how it plays out" in so many of the other cases.
Is Iowa perfect? No, but we probably actually do have the moral majority with morals.
(Elected officials aside, but I won't go there)

Yet the same workout had been done many times before and never had a problem.
What does that say?

It means the person that says the exact same workout had been done many times before is a liar. It's nonsensical to suggest that the same workout had been done and no one is hurt, and then the exact same workout was done the same time of year under the same conditions and the next time what, 10 players end up in the hospital? If you believe that I've got some great beach-front property in the Antarctic to sell you. At a minimum, it reflects poor judgment in either timing or execution by Chris Doyle. If you were a poor person on the street who put 10 people in the hospital you'd be in jail with $10,000 bail.

Or it means it had been done before with success and a certain year a bunch of players decided to go get drunk and whoop it up before said workout.
Couldn't be that simple could it?

Agreed on all points. And they never should have been allowed into the B10 in the first place.

Judging from the past, this would be relatively straight forward for KF. Forwarding a nude picture of a former girlfriend is both sexual harassment and invasion of privacy. Distributing (or Forwarding) pictures of someone who was then a minor is a possible felony. Even in a absence of legal action against the player, it is both grounds for dismissal from the team and the school.

Action would have been immediately referred to school legal staff and the player would have been suspended from team participation while further facts were gathered. (They learned that lesson fifteen years ago) The school may have had grounds to suspend attendance based on the nature of the acts alone, pending charges by the legal authorities. I suspect the player wouldn't be on either the team or in school at this point.

I'm not arguing that Iowa is lily white, but players under suspicion of sexual harassment haven't stuck around very long.

Was his coach hiding in the closet, de ja vu.

That's the part that always creeped me. Sorta like that cop in South Florida whose wife went hooker/porn actress and would pull tricks while he was "hidden". Like we don't know what he was doing while watching. Major friggin' "shudder"...
